Hi All,

Quick question have the TomTom Mobile 5 running on my current phone a Nokia 6630 under contract.

I fancy a new one next month,(Orange) my question is can I transfer the software to another phone I assume I'm stuck with Nokia and the box states a few including N70 (which I believe is a bit buggy) and N90

Will it work with all Nokia's or other brands ?

Cheers
Andy

Hey Dan, you running tomtom 6 on your N73? I puti it on mine tonight and give it a 15 minute run and it lost GPS signal twice, you get that? may just be my reciever.

Cheers

Have you put on the v3 firmware for the n73 mate?
I heard that might fix the dropout problem within the 2 devices
reading on the nokia forum some guys who updated there firmware from 0.1 to 0.3 fixed the issue:

I can confirm that firmware 0.0.3 solves the Bluetooth connectivity problems between GPS and N73. At least with the Nokia LW-3D GPS and TomTom 6 on N73. Now they communicate perfectly. With the original firmware (0.1) the use of the navigator was useless sue to constant loses of bluetooth connection.

Hope that helps :)

I just looked and i have 0.0.1, i will upgrade tonight.

Cheers for that matey :)

Thanks everyone, intesting about the N phones, Spoke to orange last night and he said they have stopped the n73,

He suggested the 6280 or 6233 (although I need to ensure they will work, but the chap believed they would) I also noted that the Sony W950i runs on the symbian OS but has a touch screen.

Neither the 6280 or 6233 are smartphones. Sadly they won't work with TomTom.

If you want to run TomTom 5, you will need a Nokia smartphone running Symbian v8.1 or older. The newest phone would be the N70.

All of the new Nokia smartphones are compatible with TomTom 6 though, including the N73, N80, E61, etc.

Thanks Tunney,

I suspected with ver 6 it would create a cut off, it has N70, N73 stamped on the box missed that before,

How stable are the N70's on Orange and Am I right in that it will only accept one bluetooth conection, ie sat nav or hands free?

Cheers

Yup W950, M600 and P990 all use the same core symbian system as N80 etc. TT6 runs fine on them plus you have touchscreen so it's pretty much identical to using the real thing.

I updated the firmware to a 3xxx version but it still ends in 0.0.1, its an o2 phone.

EDIT

Looks like for a 0.0.3 firmware it has to go a service centre, luckily its just down the road from me!

After a lot of soul searching went to the orange shop and spoke to the guys, and decided its not worth the risk as no one is 100% sure that mobile 5 will work on the newer phones, and in truth never used any of the advanced functionality anyway, other than tomtom once in a while.

Also the size quite bulky in the pocket, nights out abit of a pain tbh.

Anyway fell in love with the samsung x820 they even opened a boxed one so I could see the menus etc and now own one, cracking little phone well chuffed,

Put a free pay and go sim card in the 6630 with £10 of credit and will lock it in the boot for the times I need it,

Many thanks for the help,
