Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know about a little experience I had with a one yesterday.
First of all I have a TomTom One v2 with maps of western Europe. My girlfriends parents we pretty impressed with it and decided to go and get one for themselves. Never having the need to drive abroad they saved a bit of cash and got the One v2 with UK & Republic of Ireland maps only.
I tried to get their One to navigate to my house. It didn't recognise the postcode. I tried to browse the map and there was a big blank space where my street is. I should probably mention here that my house has been built for 8 years and appears on the maps for my One and it recognises the postcode.
After a lot of hunting about trying to work out why two almost identical products were so different I check the copyright page of the device and lo and behold the answer:
The One v2 UK & ROI has rubbish TeleAtlas maps, the One v2 Europe has excellent Navteq maps. So a word of warning - if you're planning on getting a One v2 and want decent maps, get the whole of Europe. TomToms site doesn't mention the differences between the units (except for a little logo buried away at the bottom of the regional page) so be aware.
