Took the Volvo for an MOT today

Well some of you are very very close indeed!

Here we go:

Not bad for a 17 year old car which as far as I know has not been properly serviced in around 10 years, has not been washed in 3 (except once by me!)

In the last 6 months I have replaced the track rod ends (£8) because the thread was knackered on one and the brake pads (£15 for Mintex fast road pads) That's it. The previous owner changed one tyre and the starter motor in the time he had it.

Bangernomics for the win! The only bugger is it uses so much damn fuel.

But it's offsetting the extra expenditure on fuel by needing £23 spending on maintainence in the last 6 months... That's the way I'd look at it :)

How comes you didnt check them before you took it? I thought youd be on the money with stuff like that.
Well, until Monday I wasn't planning to retest it, I was going to scrap it. Then the 205 suddenly developed this misfire and it dawned on me I need a car RIGHT NOW or I'm on foot.

So I changed the faulty sidelight bulb and the faulty taillight bulb, gave it the once over as best I could in the dark outside the house - the back end is so dirty I never even thought about the number plate lights.

I had a squizz at the tyre and decided it was touch and go and chanced it, and it didn't get through :D

I think IainB and myself win :D

The Golf failed on that the first time I MOT'd it so I said gimme a bulb and I'll swap it. The bulb had somehow carried on working but overheated and turned silver and burnt my fingers as I pulled it out :(

Old volvo's rock :D Mine has passed both MOTs needing nothing.

Advisory on the last one was slight leak in the steering rack. Been like it for a while mind.

My emissions reading was also 0.01% :D

That is SO freaky!, I took my rover in for mot today and it failed on.. number plate lights being blown and tread below required depth on rear offside tyre!! my fail certificate looks exactly the same as yours :P twilight zoneeee

You know you can look up the MOT database and see previously done mots and advisorys by submitting your MOT number?

And what sort of garage is open at 7:36am? They must be keen.
