Top 10 low pass flybys

would love a video of this!

apparently the shockwave caused people on deck to drop cameras :p

It's illegal? and BTW it was a military airshow. They probably got clearance to do it. If it's illegal why did the Concord do it then? :D
It's illegal unless they are 10 Nautical Miles away from the coast (over the sea that is, not inland) and at least 20 degrees divergent to it, or over 35Nm out to sea travelling in any direction. Breaking the sound barrier overland will result in a fair amount of paperwork and some hats-on no-tea-or-coffee chats with senior officers - that and some broken greenhouses!

Yeah I know what it is, been to it once or twice myself...:p

When you say Concorde did it do you mean on it's last flight or crossing the Atlantic?

British military planes can't train at supersonic speeds onshore at least.

EDIT: Can't find anything on Google about it which backs up the idea that it wasn't an allowed one off either.

LOL, well it made a loud bang when it went over head so it either broke the law or hit a seagull :D:D

Nearly all transatlantic flights follow a track system based on great circle routes. These would normally take them over land to the west coast of Scotland and then out over the atlantic. In order to reduce the flight time Concorde had it's own set of atlantic tracks that were a lot further south. This allowed her to "coast out" earlier and accelerate to supersonic speeds while in the climb over the Bristol channel.

That commentator must think he's at a WWE meeting!

I did the Waddo airshow for 5 years and apart, from the israeli's bombing the runway and the B1 going supersonic (banned from UK airshows for the rest of the season for it), they're normally a bit dull I find, loud but dull.

Oh, and number #3 wins for me, both the height and awesome non-reaction. There's an apache one of it buzzing some iraqi guys thats almost as close.

#3. that takes some cohones.

Heres one from the civil side of things. When i first saw this, i swore to myself that at some point in my life i would visit this beach. Having now been accepted at the oxford avation academy to train as a first officer (*swells chest*), it is now my goal in life to fly something down this approach.

Try standing on the road at the end of Bangor "International" airport (in the US). The runway is literally just the other side of the fence, like that beach. Rather noisy when you get a C5 landing on it!:o:D

I had at least 20 low fly bys on Thursday night when staying in a hotel 1km away from the end of Stansted's runway. I have massive sympathy for people who suffer that every day.

I live right on the edge of Stansted and I have zero sympathy for anyone who complains about the noise.
The airport has been present since 1943 and the way I see it is if you moved in after then, then you have no right to complain.

As for low passes, I prefer it when airliners do it...

I though he was hit by a bag of flour at first but it looks ad sounds as though it is the wing that catches him! lol
