Quite liked the Lexus feature. Clarkson's hardon for the LFA was made ever more clear, but I can't disagree with him; such an exquisite car.

Oh yeah, and Gillian Anderson.

Any more info on the Breitling Emergency II watch? Like who carries out the rescue operation? What constitutes an emergency, how long does it take to rescue you?

You guys may like this, 9AM Monday I was at a Lexus dealership having a new exhaust put on my GS, can hear the staff muttering about the stuffing review JC gave the RC-F when in walks a retired gent who proceeds to drop £60k on one, based on the TG review! XD

When the staff asked him what he liked about the review he told them (as close as I can remember) "It looks nice outside, it looks nice inside, it apparently has plenty of power for when Polish trucks pull into my lane without looking, electronics to help me if I get into a mess, and corners well if you're not a ****" :D

To top it off when he was filling out forums he was asked if he would like the "carbon" pack, to which he replied "Is that an eco thing? I'm not really into that stuff" :P

Awesome :P

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Would you honestly buy, or not buy a car, on the basis of a TopGear review?!

I love the program, but it's pure entertainment, not a factual review show in any shape or form! They will love a car one series, then slate it in another depending on what the script dictates.

All you guys going on about Gillian Anderson and I didn't even know who she was? :o

If you're a millennial then you probably didn't grow up watching her on the X files and didn't go out and and buy THAT fhm where she was front cover.

I had the poster of that cover on my teenage bedroom wall. She's always been hot.

*edit*

PS. Anybody else got an urge to move to the US, buy a cowboy hat and buy a pickup with a collapsed sun on top of it ? they looked serious fun !

I think everyone's missing my point here.

The guy was asked if he wanted a carbon something or other, and his reply about "not being interested in eco stuff" shows that he's done no research into the car. A foolish approach to buying cars.

Plus, the fact that he's (allegedly) buying a car on the basis of the Top Gear review (regardless of their opinion) is a bit bonkers, don't you think?

to be fair though, that's how 90 % of the UK population buys their cars.

They walk into showroom, find something that looks nice they can afford, maybe go for a test drive, then buy it.

They take the same attitude to buying cars that we take to buying washing powder.

Its only because we really like our cars that we take so much time to research our purchase and find one we like. Not every expensive car is going to be bought by somebody who properly likes cars.

Heck, loads of ferrari, aston martin owners etc.. will have bought it just because it was expensive and looked flash.

Exactly. When I was in my local Ford showroom, some old guy just wondered in and stated " I am looking to change my car".

I agonised and researched buying my Fiesta ST for ages. It was a big deal to me and I fought for as big a discount I could get.

This guy who wondered in whilst i was waiting the other day just got me thinking that for every customer like myself there are probably 10 of this guy, who just walk in, get told what to buy and pay full list price without an inch of research etc.

As you say, most people don't see cars as such a big deal and will buy one in the same way they buy a fridge.
