It was a great movie for its day but maybe it should stay there,
So much has changed since the original film in 1986.
Sadly, the F-14 is no longer in service.
A4's are no longer used as aggressors. The F-16 does that role now if I remember rightly.
Miramar base in California is no longer used as the Fighter Weapons School base. It moved to Nevada some years back.
I can't see a workable plot for Top Gun 2.
It worked for Indiana Jones... oh, wait...
It could actually be a reasonable film if they don't try and replicate the original and its 'spirit' (i.e. essence of gorgonzola

Except they didn't use A4s in Top Gun, they used Northrop F5s:

If there's no gayness in it im not watching it!!
It wouldn't be awesome in any way shape or form.
Top Gun only worked because of when it was made. It simply won't work if a modern version is made.
I think we can safely say that if there's a lack of gayness then it can't be associated with anything called Top Gun in the first place.
I reckon any remake will be rubbish regardless of the gayness quotient, the film was a product of its time and any remake will miss that as it's a difficult thing to get right without either mocking the original material or taking itself too seriously.
I see "gayness" talked about a lot with regard to TOPGUN, but really....is there much in there? Ok, ok, so the volleyball scene is a bit gay, but I'm sure we wouldn't be talking about lesbianism if it were a bunch of women doing it!
