Top Gun - Isn't it "Fabulous" !

It's got a fantastic soundtrack and the dogfights are very enjoyable but the rest of the film is a mess. The story is shallow, the chemistry between Cruise and McGillis is non existent and the dialogue is pathetic. Having said that, it's still quite entertaining but not a film I would buy on DVD or watch every time it's shown on TV.

Great film :D

So many quotables! Awesome soundtrack, great dogfights, ultra-cheesy plot, love it!

Now watch Days of Thunder, Top Gun...but with Nascar..:p

Great film. Sure it's pretty gay when you think about it but most of us would have seen it before we even knew what a buffty was.

I may have lead a sheltered life but could someone explain a Buffty?

Top Gun was pretty good but the real hit of 1986 was The Wraith, top gun but with cars, haha that was such an awesome film, I need to get it on DVD :p
Top Gun with cars is Days of Thunder, and its not as good :)

A person of the limp-wristed persuasion is about as close to an explanation as you'll get here :p

Thanks Gilly :D

I've watched Top Gun loads (I was 16 at the time - I was the target audience), and one thing that always made me smile were the conversations between Viper (Tom Skerritt) and Jester (Michael Ironside) about TC being 'out of control' and a 'loose cannon'. He's called himself Maverick, didn't that give you a clue????

the best film EVER is Wings of the Apache.

Nicolas Cage trying to be Tom Cruise, and whatever the ugly girl is called trying to be attractive. The only thing that saves it is that the Apache is an awesome helicopter :D

I'm always trying the whole "slam the breaks on and he'll fly right past" move in games. It never works :/

Dya play Grand Theft Auto? It always works a treat in that :D

Ditto to most other peoples comments in that it's one of the best movies of all time. Have had the soundtrack for years and the missus finally bought me the DVD for Xmas.

goooooseee nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

love it even though it is gay.. we all aspire to be as HOT as those males playing beach volley ball so we can attract the ladies as well

Top Gun is a classic film.

I've not watched it that many times (I had mates that would recite the entire film on school bus journeys, songs too) but I've always known there's nothing quite like it, nothing that beats it at its own game.

Sure, there are some camp scenes and some stupid macho moments. But that's all part of the fun. It's not perfect by any stretch, but it's a damn good film.

- On the Days Of Thunder side of things. The more I see it, the more I like it, even know I'm always aware it was 'Top Gun In Cars'. And the Hanz Zimmer score to that is for me one of his greatest efforts ('Car Building' is awesome).

Never seen it :o

Worth a pop? IMDB rate it average.

When you've lifted yourself out from under that big stone, head on down to Tesco - £2.84 on DVD. Worth it even if you just left the room and listed to the music.

Top Gun holds a special place in my heart (ooh err!), because it took me a few years to finally be able to watch the whole thing. I remember watching the first 20mins or so on video at a friends house when I was about 8. It was then shown on terrestrial TV when I was around 9-10, but because it didn't start until 9pm or I was only allowed to watch around the same amount before I was packed off up to bed. So cruel after that intro!

Tremendous film. I thought my dad was the bees knees when he got the same bike that Tom Cruise rides in Top Gun in about 1990 :D He's still got it & I'll have it off him one day.
