Top line of screen appearing at bottom

Hi all,

My Samsung television seems to have developed a fault. There is a thin line appearing at the very bottom. I believe it contains the pixels from the very top of the image as at times you can see the correlation between the two (matching lines from a ceiling for example).

The problem is present both for Sky and Plex.

  1. What could have caused this problem?
  2. Is it likely to worsen?
  3. Might there be a hidden menu where I could adjust the alignment?
  4. Would this be covered by the guarantee? (I have the store specific 5 year one).

Thanks:p

how do you set the hdmi options for overscan / exact ?
if you have exact set (with pixel to pixel mapping between source media and screen) you do get a line at top/bottom/right/left of screen , but a better picture imhop.

... google says it better than me

saying that maybe a fault unless you inadvertently enabled exact

yes if settings did not change not this
[overscan is a setting relevant to internal tuner and media player/plex settings too - so I was wrong to limit it to hdmi sources]

yes OK I would say that is a hardware fault and I would probably send the same picture (or one of the problem as shown with a regular video) to Samsung support email address for their feedback and then also start engaging the guarantee ... and hopefully getting a new set.
[is the problem there from cold turn on ? I have replaced tcon boards in older lcds with somewhat similar visual artifact and problem worsens as set warms up ... anyway you have a guranteee]

Seems to be pretty consistent, regardless of how long its been on. Sometimes it may stop for a little bit but it can be hard to tell if the top part of the image is similar to the bottom.
