Torin big red trolley jack (kit) - any opinions?

I've got one of these jacks, and it's ok for what it is, I had 2 though within 6 months as the hydraulic oil leaked and wouldn't lift and hold a car. You could jack it up, but it would go down on it's own. Replaced no problems, and replacement has been fine.

I've also got a sealey jack which is 100x better than the halfords ones. But it was £100 and came with a creeper and axle stands. But it's probably too dear for your needs.

I cant really justify spending £100 on something thats not going to be used regularly which is why I'm checking out the cheaper end of the market. The creeper is an added bonus but given the low reach of the jack I'm not sure how viable it would be to use.

I bought that kit and it only just gave me enough lift to get the stands under the front of a volvo s80 , however it did do the job.

I'm in need of a new trolley jack for some work on car in the next few days and much as I dislike Halfords they seem to have a good offer on a combined jack, stands etc kit from Torin but its not a brand I know so I thought I'd ask for opinions amongst you knowledgable lot first. My thinking is that a 2 ton trolley jack is going to be around £30 and the rest of it is worth £30 to me provided its not utter tat.

Halfords Big Red jack kit

I realise its not going to be top quality but is it worth buying?

Thanks
I have used one of them, didt last long before one of the wheels cracked so dont expect much with heavy use

Thanks - currently thinking about just buying a decent-ish but cheap-ish Sealey one.

Haven't managed to measure the clearance of car or height of existing stands as OH has tidied up and I've no idea where my tape measures are......

Will find one of them tonight - I must have at least 4 and 2 are bright orange :D

Failing that I'll borrow one from next door!

Failng that I'll try guess-timating with folded sheets of A4 :p

The jack is fine but IMO those stands should be illegal. I was under the car when one failed and luckily the jack took the weight but it was a really scary moment.

Thanks for that - not the sort of experience I intend to have so I'll give them a miss.

I finally got round to measuring and it seems that 130mm might be a little tight for getting under the Golf so I'm looking for a low entry one just to be on the safe side. There are a few Sealey ones on Ebay for around the £40-45 mark so thats probably what I'm going for as the Lift master one linked in Amazon is now out of stock!

Not planning on doing it this weekend though due to not having a jack........ I hate being indecisive :D

I'd really spend the little extra and invest in a half decent jack.

I have a Halfords own brand jack that looks like a similar design as the one in the above link and use it for years, and then I upgraded to a costco Ali one. Absolutely miles better.
