People have been calling Tories scum for pretty much my whole 50 years. You think its bead now, you clearly never lived through the 80/90s

As I pointed out earlier, after the Brighton bombing there were literally people talking about funding the IRA to give them another crack at it.

RIP. I am not one for politics but I remember him from Brass Eye.

Ah. Well this might put an entirely different spin on the murder.

Ah, didn't see that. Not that it really makes much difference I suppose...

Certain parts of the press are now calling him a 'British Muslim of Somali descent'

Yeah these times are nothing like the 80/90s. The hatred of Thatcher and most of her cabinet was on another level.

When the by-election takes place, the Tories will get the seat again. Since the creation of the constituency has been Tory. The late MP had a 14k majority

If its similar to Jo Cox, the opposing main parties wont field a candidate (rightly so).

What an awful thing to happen...

Sadly I suspect attacks on Tories are going to become more common. They are making a laughing stock of little England, and the constant ******* on the average person/pandering to their wealthy mates will only get them so far.

I suspect this will get allot more coverage than Jo Cox, in part because of the English media and their support of the right wing.

An awful day for British democracy. From what I've read David Amess championed for Southend to be made a city I hope that goes through in the not to distant future.

I was surprised to find out that City was an awarded title that has nothing to do with population. There are cities in Wales with a smaller population than some UK schools.

A truly terrible thing to happen, cannot imagine what his wife and children are now going through.

I see reported on the BBC it has now been declared a terrorist incident by the police with a potential link to islamist extremism.

Well that's him in jail basically forever then.

Suppose we'll eventually hear if there was anything more than trying to keep the us/them movement going.

Genuinely surprised for once to see it's an islamic terror attack, witness reports of the attack say the attacker was calm and basically handed himself over, bizarre...

It's this self entitled attitude that's the problem. No one is ****** on the average person any more than economics dictates. There isn't a magic money tree to spend and your socialist alternative would see everyone paying more taxes and being worse off when you borrow rampantly to attempt to solve all your perceived problems.

Since when was the Guardian right wing, perhaps you should notify Owen Jones?

Find that hard to believe with it being a single victim. More likely the individual had a tough life and bad life choices. Had a chip on his shoulder because he didn't attain a massive house in a leafy suburb and blamed the system for it.

A good man, a good member of parliament of 35+ years who voted with his conscience on occasion. A committed believer in animal welfare, against hunting etc,.

Perhaps in his memory, Southend can finally be awarded city status.
