Toshiba 32WL66 PC/Sound question.

Basically i purchased a 5m long headphone to red/white phono cable, now i have my pc outputting to my tv and would like to have the sound go through it too. So i have connected up the cable to the L/R pc/hdmi/audio but i have no sound coming out, if anyone can sprout some ideas on why this is happening please help me out.
 
Is the cable directional? And in this case the wrong direction?

Are you sure you have it connected to Audio in and not Audio out on the TV?

Rofl, well actually my new tv has just turned up. Samsung LE26R73BD, same question but different tv. swift edit, ye got it all in the right sockets.

well it doesnt have a VGA input for sound red/white phono the samsung, so plugged it into stereo, will sort this out another day, thanks for the partial help though tesla.
