Toshiba Equim U400 Backup disks

As in does it not boot at all? is the hard drive dead? is there any chance of the recovery partition being accessed so we can attempt to help you extract the discs from it?

No it boots fine. It just had issues with things loading such as IE and freezes constantly. It also will not shut down.

Is it possible to extract the recovery info from the hard drive?
 
Run a drive error check with both options ticked and try again.

EDIT: Or you can attempt to run a restore install direct from the drive, however I would not advise this if the hard drive is having error issues, if it's just spyware, viruses and general carp causing the disc writing to fail then there should be very little risk of it failing as it is kicked off before windows loads by pressing the F8 key.
