Tough Mudder

Got so many of these popping up lately, with this, Spartan, Warrior Dash etc, I think they would all be good fun and relatively easy (by all accounts you have to wait at the different stations for the lines to die down). But I think Tough Mudder is also a charity event and most of the proceeds are donated. Go for it :)

Looks fun :) If it was in the UK I'd be up for it.

No excuse then?

It is in the UK, they have about 3-4 across the UK this year. One in Dumfries that I may apply for. Depending on work really.

Doesn't really look that hard, should be breaks at each station and each station will give your body a break from running. Don't think I would try it if I couldn't run 11 miles mind.

Looks like Tough Guy, but easier.

Later this month is Tough Guy Jesus Warriors weekend. It's just like Tough Guy, but you've got to carry a cross with you round the course.

Just checked and Tough Guy has been going for 26 years. I'd love to do something like that but they have huge numbers taking part and unless you are at the front at the first obstacle then you've got to join the queue. The biggest issue at Tough Guy is hypothermia because of the waiting.

Me and my two mates are doing the Midlands one on the 12th May. Works out quite expensive depending on when you book, since there's a £10 insurance and £6 processing fee on top of tickets.

But it looks so much fun and gives you an incentive to hit the gym.

For anyone who is going, we'll be dressed as Mario, Luigi and Wario, so if you see us give us a shout!

Anyone else doing the one in Scotland?

Looks like I'm defo doing this, going to start training as of Sunday.

Thinking loads of cardio/plyometrics/core and some strentgh training.

Thinking of maybe doing it and im from scotland, pretty fit now but will have to work on cardio when its nearer the time :( Where abouts in scotland you from?

Near Elgin.

4 of us travelling down for it. Nearly bloody 200miles!!

I'm training for it from now on. Hill sprints, distance running, beach runs, weight circuits all high intensity stuff.

Going to be a hard 16 weeks!

Just paid for the East Midlands one - bricking it now! Time for some hardcore training :)

On the plus side, I know that I'm nowhere near the least fit in my team, and that I can run 12 miles without too much of a hitch. Hopefully I'll be fine

Looks like a bit of fun. I'd do this if not for the massive run. The obstacle course side of things looks like a great challenge. The 10-12 mile run I could not do. I have great mental strength, just bad knees...

Anyone actually ever done one to talk about experience?

How fit do you need to be? Basically, you should be in good physical condition – complete slackers need not apply. At a minimum we recommend that you are running regularly (2+ times a week, working up to 5 miles per run), able to do 15-25 push-ups in a row, able to bang out 6 pull-ups in a row (especially the dudes), and able to swim 50 yards without stopping (although you can skip the water obstacles).

All of these are dead easy apart from the run 5 miles...

The massive run isn't too much of an issue, you will have rest time between obstacles. Plus you'll be pretty high on the adrenaline that you won't notice.

What time are you kicking off? Looking forward to seeing this!
