Tourist Shooting Ranges in USA

I looked at some while I was over there the last time, and many wouldn't let you go alone - they wanted you to take someone along to vouch that you weren't suicidal.

You may need to pay a hobo to be your fwiend.
 
I went here! Just turned up on the one real rainy day we had.

As we hadn't shot before we had to do a firearms course.
$120 each which included everything and one weapon each which we could all use. First a ~30min class room, where they go through safety, essential parts of the gun, standing stance and so forth. Then in the gun range and showed us how to load, shoot and unload each weapon, when he was happy, he left us to it.

Had a revolver, pistol and mp5 had a bout 2 boxes f ammo each, across the two different caliber. Ost where .4 for some fully auto fun.
Didnt find the pistol interesting at all, mp5 and revolver where amazing fun. The other two both thought pistol was the best and didn't rate the fully auto mad firing.

My question is does anyone know if it's possible to go to shooting ranges (indoor or outdoor) as a tourist and 'play about' with some guns. When I say play about I obviously mean supervised shooting and to be taught how to do it properly/safely by a trained person.

Any ideas?

NYC itself will be no, IIRC it's one of few places in USA you can't carry guns. Might be some outside it though.

There were loads being advertised when I was in Vegas.
 
Just come back from Vegas, we took a stag and 10 of his friends to one of the ranges just off the strip.

Paid $120 each for the "coalition" pack which included a pistol, m4 rifle and a m249 machine gun. We had an absolute blast, would highly recommend it to anyone. Firing the m249 was insane, the kick and the noise from it whilst it remained highly accurate. Would go back in a flash to try some shotguns or uzi's.
