No, just transferred to the chassis rails instead, much cheaper to fix if you bend it, right?
true, but you would have to hit it pretty darn hard to bend the chassis rails.

I'd be a bit bothered if a Fiesta had a "5th Wheel" , otherwise, as long as the clutch felt ok, I would not care at all....
If I didn't need it, how easy are towbars to remove with electrics etc? is it job for garage or can it be done with a bit of time.

Friend of mine towed a 2 bike trailer with a 1.25 Fiesta for ages to get bikes to motocross tracks every week or two. It did alright, went all over with it. It wasn't perfect but I don't suppose it did the car any damage, someone else I know has it now and it's been fine.
