hiya all.

I'm thinking of doing a track day, and one that matches my days off is this one:

http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/brands-hatch/trackdays/event-details.asp?ProductID=2265

i would have preferred brands hatch, as i know the place like the back of my hand (through watching :p) but then i guess Bedford is slightly safer, not many walls to hit ;)

however its the costs I'm not sure on. the standard cost is £109, but what about:

insurance?
other hidden costs?

also is it worth doing it in my asthmatic 1.25 fiesta? Its all I've got for probably 2-3 years.

Tyres, brakes, clutch....They'll all take a pounding.

Why do you have to keep the fiesta for so long?

Why can't you sell it and buy something faster?

first car.. want to build a few years NCB. i have a slight urge to spend all my tescos share money (£8500 + whatever i make on the fiesta) on a second hand M3 or focus ST in march.... but im not sure thats a clever idea in the long run, no money for future etc :o

depends where you buy it from...... ;)

ok then maybe "where do you get track day insurance from?" would be better? lol

You can pick up a mkII Golf GTi for £500. Strip it COMPLETELY (no dash, no interior, one seat, no trim...) and you'll have a hell of a laugh in it. Then plonk £500 on tuning the engine using second-hand bits (or just buy a £100 2.0 16v lump).

Insurance? Check out Adrian Flux and Competition Car Insurance to start with.

If you put it on a limited-mileage policy it should be...reasonable.

My insurance company charges £80 per track session (Greenlight insurance) not sure if this is standard or just the cost to myself.

Does anyone know where to buy in-car video camera mounts? Searching the net at the moment but anyone who has bought one before or knows about them, please post! :)
