Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Who said anything about S&p500.

And bag holder, do you have any idea about investing? How bizzare.

I've given up trying understand him as well... Makes no sense whatsoever, just makes numbers up.

30% drawdown etc - no explanation of where that random number comes from....

which bit? i'm just starting my investment journey at the moment properly for the long term.
i need to now decide if i let things ride, take a small hit to buy in lower and make a bigger profit on return.

not all of us have 1000's spare to throw around when we want.

Leave it alone - Has your reason for investment changed from when you invested?
Do you need the money?

If no for both - leave it alone.

Don't try and chase the market.

Time in the markets is better than timing the markets

i agree long term its the best option, but a lot of newer investors or people not asking questions or nervous will be selling up if they think they are going to "loss" money
there is a lot of people which havent developed the long term view point and panic.
hearing about it and living it when its your money aren't the same things.

hindsight is great, and you might kick your self for losing out lost potentials.
DCA is a proven long term strategy also.

talks about oil

estimated possible time frames :
4week
12week - most likely it seems
9months
for the straights of Hormuz to re-open return to some semblance of normal
its an AI assessment, so take with salt and pepper

not sure if any one has seen estimates on that side, i just thought it would be an interesting assessment to ask.

seem to be at or over $81 a barrel at the moment
i don't see if going down any time soon

Oil is risky, it's not a long-termer. They are pumping now, but once it starts flowing again that's going to drop right down. If tankers start being hit it's also going to drop.

i mostly posted it becuase it would give a rought time scale on things potentially returning to normal and i what was though to be the most probable i.e. 3months (its a long time), plus i imagine oils has knock on effects to other industries.
we could see a small rise in electric vehicle sales and solar panels as a thought, if people think things might escalate or continue.

as a small punt for short term those with a risk apetite and money to loss it might be worth a go, especially if you have inside info, oil could net a nice return or a related industry.

cyber security firms may see a tick up or down now as i expect cyber warfare to pick up, companies get hacked ect, thats something else to watch in the news for buying oppatunitites.

im posting this :
&

because of the impact it could have for Spains markets i feel its relavant because of what its showing, how the us is trying to strong arm by economic preassure.
the spain stocks are likely to drop a few points i am guess with the news, though it may shift trade to other countries.

I can see LNG potentially being sourced from China as example in short term.

i asked Gemini what are the main trading goods between the two parties and it shows:

some of you might see deal you can take advantage of there over the next few months as stock dwindle or Spain caves.

Spain to US
Pharmaceuticals: Packaged medicaments are consistently the #1 export (approx. $1.3 billion annually).

Agrifood (The "Star" Sector): * Olive Oil: A major export, though it faced a ~28% drop in value in 2025 due to trade tensions.

Wine: One of the most recognizable Spanish products in the U.S. market.

Vegetables & Fruits: Canned olives, peppers, and citrus fruits.

Industrial & Energy:

Refined Petroleum: High-volume export to U.S. refineries.

Machinery: Including electrical transformers and mechanical appliances.

Tiles & Ceramics: Spain is a top global provider of high-quality ceramic floor and wall tiles.

U.S. exports to Spain are heavily dominated by the energy sector, which spiked as Spain (and the EU) pivoted away from other energy sources.

Energy (The Leading Category): * Crude Petroleum: The single largest U.S. export to Spain (valued at over $6 billion in 2024).

Petroleum Gas (LNG): Crucial for Spain’s energy grid.

Technology & Healthcare:

Pharmaceuticals: While Spain exports medicine to the U.S., it also imports a massive amount of U.S.-developed drugs and vaccines.

Aircraft & Parts: Significant trade involving Boeing components and aerospace technology.

Agriculture:

Soybeans & Corn: Essential for Spain’s large livestock and feed industries.

Tree Nuts: Almonds and walnuts are major U.S. agricultural exports to Spain

Trade BalanceSpain runs a deficit in goods (imports more than it exports).
ServicesSpain runs a surplus in services, driven by U.S. tourism and business consulting.
Impact of TariffsSpanish exports to the U.S. fell by roughly 8% in 2025 due to the return of aggressive tariff policies, hitting the "olive oil and wine" sectors hardest.

If you’re investing for the next 10+ years then what’s happening this week won’t even register on the graph, just keep buying when you would normally if you’re a monthly investor.
AI and tech future is far far more important than this middle east blip

The gap between the VIX index and SPX 1-month realized volatility sits at 8.3 points, which is in the 90%ile level since inception.

Either implied vol dissipates and its normal service resumed or realized vol moves to close the gap.

are you just copy and pasting from AI now? Looks like it with all the Z's in your words...

What has the vix got to do with you telling people to sell? If you sold everytime vix spiked a little you'd not be in the market long.
