Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

When Iran war started I got hit to the tune of £30k in a few days, fortunately all back now
It'd be better for me to state % really. That £2k loss is on around £10k investment. When you have high figures invested the losses and gains are much much bigger. Sit and wait and hope, it should come back :)

Easyjet agree a takeover deal in principle at 690p per share.

This is under what the bid should have been in my opinion but I won't say no to banking healthy profits and just selling out Monday morning, assuming the price is half decent when trading opens.

I'd still say I don't want this. It's 6 percent of my isa. I won't be devastated. But I will be disappointed

That's an extra 1.2k for me on open I suppose. (if it jumps to 680 to 690).

Mine I'd be happy with is 800

Yep 20% would have me worried

if any ones interested softcat is paying over 7% per quarter so 28% a year? return sounds pretty good. good P/E share price has been constantly rising though.

other wise everyone panic its another green day!! when will our missery end and the good days to buy start

It's more I'm annoyed that I bought at totally the wrong time :( hey ho, the joys of the stock market and more volatile stocks. 20% down is bad but nowhere near as bad as my GE share purchase years ago. I rode that one out. I would say that GE is likely less volatile than Micron, SNDK, WDC though. It does make me a bit more twitchy of course and the thoughts do pass that once I end up back in the green sell and put the money into something less risky. I am nowhere near as into this, research wise etc, as some of you so it's probably not that great an idea I mess around with single stocks too much

" Hynix is launching a Nasdaq listing expected to raise about $28 billion, giving US investors easier access to one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI memory-chip boom"

American court case in the making against cartel behaviour between the big 3 DRAM manufacturers.

Probably just a blip in the scheme of things.

Jay2cents YouTuber. More aimed at the non commercial customer.

yer i heard about the law suit last night from one of the guys.

they'll argue its supply and demand, and their is unusually demand right now and not enough supply. investment to bring more capacity online needs capital which is part of price increase. ect ect

also some discussion on quantum computing

Nice bump from Keller today. Would have been quite the red day without that.

I hold ATYM (Copper mine) and SRB (Gold mine) which did really well but last couple of months just flatlined. Both metals have gone off the boil and both mines seem to be promising new mines coming on stream. Rather than bail completely, have set stop losses to half the holdings in both.

They'll probably trigger and subsequntly moon by the end of the week :D

He wants to see Microsoft replicate the results in multiple chips. "If you repeatedly try and find Jesus in your toast, eventually you'll find Jesus in your toast," he says. "But that one piece of toast doesn't mean you had some kind of epiphany."

Elvis would make a better constant. The important part is probably the other side of the equation, the workload applicable and cost or efficiency of these chips even if they did work.

Apparently MSFT wants this tech patent because it would command ARM levels of leverage, pivoting industries via facilitating R&D

  • Room‑temperature superconductors
  • Perfect catalysts for ammonia, hydrogen, CO₂ conversion
  • New battery chemistries (solid‑state, quantum‑stable ions)
  • New pharmaceuticals (protein folding solved)
  • Fusion materials
  • Ultra‑efficient photovoltaics
  • Quantum‑designed alloys for aerospace and energy

Quantum computing stocks have raced higher on breakthroughs, government money, and a rush of new listings. The Defiance Quantum ETF is up more than 150% since late 2024. The market is clearly happy to pay for the idea that Q-Day is arriving sooner.

Wednesday

FOMC Meeting Minutes (June 16–17 meeting)
➡️ Why it matters: First minutes under new Chair Warsh; markets will be looking for clues on how close the committee is to a hike, not a cut.

The red is flowing thick and fast now.

I am pleased I sold out of semi conductors.

I am not pleased because everything comes down at times like these.

Yeah another 10%
Swings down day.
It's gradually seesawing down.
I'm waiting for something to happen soon positive but i dont see who's going to be the rally point.
Who's got earnings calls coming up?
It doesn't even seem to matter
The logic has long gone.
I'm still nicely up but I feel scared lol.

I think the logic is there.
I think this is actually the start of the AI sell off. The markets have been flat for a while jittering around after the monumental gains we've had.

Microns results were fairly good. And they are a big player. But it hasn't really made any difference. This is a strong indicator for me. I've been selling a lot this flat period. But not enough to get hurt by the red.

I'm very tempted to sell out a lot more of tech
