Surely for every winner there has to be a loser as there are people on both sides of the transaction. Like in a casino, the house is the real winner making bank from fees or spreads.

Of course one institution will make up for a million or more small investors. It's not like you are pitted one on one against a peer.

An idiot I think actually....

So the T212 pie is basically treated as one when it comes to selling a specific stock. I can't sell one stock without selling a portion of the others as well.

you can eject a stock from the pie and sell it off. It's a somewhat convoluted procedure but it can be done. Unfortunately it would take pages to describe it here.
