Traffic Offenses: What happens after court?

Hi there,

I recently pleaded guilty by post to having crossed the hatchings between lanes on a sliproad (witness statement from a traffic officer on the hard shoulder). The court hearing was ~2 weeks ago. I'd included some fairly solid mitigating circumstances to hopefully reduce the punishment.

I have in the last couple of days received my driving license back, and a document with my "penalty" on it which was listed as a £45 fine and £15 administration fees. My driving license has had no points added to it, and is exactly how it was when i sent it off.

Am I right in thinking that since there has been no mention of points at all, and my driving license has been returned to me clean that I will have received none? The license was sent to the court with my plead, are they perhaps returning it to me and will then tell me to send it to the DVLA to have points added on?

I am surprised by the lack of actual explanation as to what has been decided, just an envelope with my driving license and a single form with a fine and instructions on how to pay it :s

Cheers

Tom.

Sounds like a fixed penalty ticket to me

No points. and just have to pay the fine.

Its what you used to get for using a phone while driving before they changed the law.

Rule 109:

If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so.

• If the area is marked with diagonal stripes and bordered by solid white lines, you should not enter it except in an emergency.

• If the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by solid white lines you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency.

Your wording of it all differs to the one on the direct.gov.uk website:

Rule 130.

I use that junction most days and I've crossed that section with the solid white lines far too many times to remember. When you cross from the M60 and go around that corner it's the most frustrating situation in the world getting stuck behind a HGV going 15mph trying to get back upto speed. As long as it's clear, i've not hesitated crossing it before.

I know it's technically wrong, but so what. I can't be arsed sitting around for how long that section is waiting.

I have to admit to doing it myself on a few occasions at the exact same roundabout. It's amazing how many people slow right down when going round the sliproad corners because they look slightly sharp and then proceeding to spend the remainder of the sliproad getting back to speed whilst holding people up.

It's one of those situations whereby everybody does it but if you're unlucky enough to get caught, you don't really have a leg to stand on.

Not suprised a dibble was sat there tbh; I've done it when going for Emergency Burger King(™)

It's wrong and there is no defence, like speeding
