Trailers not showing plot

The trailer should set the story up without telling you what it's about IMO. Trailers that show all the good bits of the film annoy me.

This.

It should give you enough information to get you interested, not explain the plot and not show the best gags / set pieces.

I also don't want too much revealed in a trailer.

Worst of all is when you've seen a trailer and you remember something from it, yet it hasn't cropped up yet, so you know something pivotal still has too occur.

I can see why people might be hard done by a trailer though, if it doesn't turn out to be what they were expecting. I worked on a film a few years back which was a fairly serious drama, it wasn't really working though and was recut numerous times. When it came to the trailer, they went with one which made out that it was quite an action orientated film. The reality though, is that the only action scene in the film is a gun fight that lasts about five minutes, yet they had plucked most of the shots from it to use in the trailer. So you can imagine why people would be disappointed when they went to see it and it was totally not like the trailer made it out to be.
