Hi all

Following the great success of my 'Dubstep recomendations' thread on here I though I would ask the knowledgeable people of OcUK for some Chillout Trance Albums.

When working I like to listen to chillout as it serves the purpose of blocking out any background noise, but it has to be without Vocals or they distract me. While working at Uni I used to listen to the Chillout station on DI.fm a lot.

Most mainstream chillout or trance albums available are full of remixed slowwed down generic dance tunes, with the vocals to go with it. Im after something without Vocal. Any recommendations? As before, anything freely available is a bonus!

Many thanks!

first things that popped into my head were, they're not all necessarily trance music based, some might have some lyrics but they're more melodic:
amethystium - ambient new agey style but very very nice to listen to
BT
chicane
diane arkenstone
takkyu ishino - karaoke jack (album)- its Japanese so may be hard to come by - maybe more electro funk though
denki groove - plenty of options - Japanese and again maybe more electro funk
ambient generation (think this was free download from rainforest) might work
I'll try and edit with some youtube links shortly

Chillout? Maybe Burials first album, it's more ambient dubstep but still very good regardless.

Also, try Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin, as well as Wisp, which is not trancey at all, thank god! :p

Have a listen to some of Micro De Govia's work. I'd call it euphoric, not all of his music is chill out though.

I personally recommend Chronoscale, have a listen to it if you can.

EDIT: You can listen to some samples here. It's also on Spotify.

Do a search for Windmill Sessions by Sunsurge. There are some vocal tracks in his mixes, but they are great chill-out trance mixes non the less.

I used to listen to this all the time! totally forgot about it. Thanks TheVoice!

It's great, got me and my mate through our dissertations at uni back in 2008! Both of us sat at his kitchen table, laptops on, books piled up, packets of biscuits at the ready, and Groove Salad playing quietly through the tinny laptop speakers. Stressful times, but I do reminisce nonetheless!

Got a massive text file of tracks I've heard and enjoyed on there, keeping a record so I can track them down later. Spotify is usually good for that, it's got quite an impressive music library these days.

Also check out Solar Fields, a little bit different form what you wanted, but he did the soundtrack for Mirror's Edge.
