transferring files from one computer to another

transferring files from one computer to another which is the best way, i cannot use port hard drive, flash, dvd rw. as i do not have any i need to know how to do over a network or by connecting the computer to my main computer ect. :confused:

ive tried putting them on same network my main pc doesnt seem to pick the laptop up plugged in by adsl to router???? any ideas as to why...

i can now pick it up but cant access it for some reason however my laptop can access my main computer.
