Wow...great news that you're ok, and as mentioned above newspaper website would probably love that video/story. I can't help think that I'd have swerved all over the place with the shock of the impact.

I saw this after reading the OP's post in MM here - you're very lucky to be alive. If you had been travelling any faster, it might have landed on the roof of your car and possibly you.

I would be tempted to buy a few lottery tickets if I were you. ;):D

will be interesting to hear if the insurance claim is against the bordering land owners ? whether the insurance company w/legal-aid will identify them.
How much did it weigh then ?

I've had a tree fall in front of my car at night, doing 25mph in a storm down a coastal road, emergency stop... it really **** me up, especially as there are a line of trees there!

Lucky that the tree seems to have been fairly rotten and disintegrated as it impacted. Anything more solid could have ended up bad.

I’m sure they will get to the root of it...

The tree will probably file an injury claim.

    Woodn't hold your breath.

Nasty looking thing that OP. Glad you've escaped unharmed, seen numerous news articles with those a lot less fortunate.

this would be an interesting challenge for a waymo car ... would it realise something had hit the car ?

Wow, could have been a lot worse, glad you're okay!

    Really took me by surprise.

Seemed like a snap decision on the tree's part to fall on you when it did.

I was reminded of an incident back in 2002 when 2 young people were killed near me when a large section of tree fell onto their car, trapping them and the car then caught fire. Horrific.
So "only" having a written off car is a blessing.
