Tried baking a dead ATI 5770 (bad results :D)

it certainly does work, as only last week i cooked my Nv8800gts 320 and my brothers Nv8800gts 512 and both now work. 8 mins @190c but that was in an fan assisted electric oven. my brother was really doubtful about it working, but i kept telling him that it has been known to work, but even I'm surprised that both cards now work.

The only things that are physically damaged are the capacitors. I'm going to search for replacements and solder them in and see if it gives it a breath of life :D

OCUK wouldn't replace it after 2 attempts of RMA, XFX RMA is rubbish (fact). So I attempted this... :o

I've seen success on 200 series cards and 4000 series ATI cards so I thought it might of worked on my 5770 but I guess the capacitors were a cheaper quality :/

the only other thing i can See that you did differently is that i placed the cards gpu side down and i didn't cover the tray in foil. not that that helps much now ..:(

Can anyone comment on whether there is any danger from baking cards/mobos in terms of noxious or poisonous fumes being released? I baked a laptop mobo last night as it was artifacting so bad it wouldn't even boot windows and one of the connectors fell off as it was cooling, so I will have to do it again tonight to stick it back on, however, it didnt smell great....

i certainly wouldn't sit there watching it cook breathing in the fumes, but i can honestly say i didn't really smell anything but then i have a well ventilated kitchen.
