Ok I had to go check Gas Mark 7 is 218 Degrees, and solder melts at less than 200. Yep too HOT!

never heard of it being tried on a 5770 though, shoulda tried RMA with the manufacturer 
While lead based solder melts below 200, Lead-free solder melts at around 220...Ok I had to go check Gas Mark 7 is 218 Degrees, and solder melts at less than 200. Yep too HOT!
Just so you know a PCB is in a re-flow oven in a manufacturing plant for 2 minutes tops.....
Nvidia cards seem to roast fine in the oven.

OCUK wouldn't replace it after 2 attempts of RMA, XFX RMA is rubbish (fact). So I attempted this...![]()

That said, they could use parts that are made to withstand higher temps, eg 105degree C rated caps...
