Trivium - The Crusade`

Personally I quite like the new album. I do however prefer their first album.

At least its better than all of the tripe that 'bands' like aiden (W T F) and my chemical romance are releasing.

Saying all of that though it isn't a patch on disturbed - ten thousand fists, the cover of genesis - the land of confusion is fantastic.

The Crusade is way better than anything Metallica have released since Master of Puppets. IMO

imo LOL M8 LOL.

They sound nothing like megadeth or metallica, and theyre really bad at what they do, i dislike all their music imo. :).

Load and Reload, if you don't treat them as metal albums, have some alright tracks (e.g. Unforgiven II; Fuel; Until it Sleeps).

St. Anger, on the other hand, is pure tripe.

Agreed. I cant stand the "ZOMG CLIFF BURTON RULEZ BLACK ALBUM SUCKZ BRING BACK KILL EM ALL!!!1111eleven" eddiots who are part and parcel of the metallica circus. Load and reload were good rock records and are both far better albums than anything Trivial have made. The key thing is that metallica could write memorable tunes that would penetrate - what exactly have Drivialum written that would appeal to anyone but angry 13 year olds?

So if you are not a 'scene kid' (whatever that is), then you have to dislike them because your peers say so.
When can young people start having a mind of their own?

Most of you weren't even born when Metallica started but every band that came after them basically copied them and it was great as a 25+ yr old to be able to buy this stuff. So to say that Trivium sound like Testament, Annihalator, Anthrax and a 1000 others is stupid when these bands copied Metal Licker in the firts place. Trivium are in a very long line of bands that are tipping their hats to the oldies and do an extremely good job of it. To dislike them because it isn't hip and you wear a different uniform is pathetic.
There are two types of music - good and bad.

Heh I hate all this scene and genre rubbish. I've been listening to Metallica since Puppets was released in 86 and when I was growing up there weren't all these different genres which I find just plain stupid.

I was only comparing them to other bands because someone said they sounded like Metallica and I just thought they sounded more like Annihilator or whoever, I'm not judging the band because of who they sound like, if I thought it was good I'd listen to it, it's as simple as that.

Disturbed are just about the worst "metal" band in existance. They're all really poor musicians and song writers. Given the choice I'd rather listen to Trivium on repeat for the rest of my days than ever have to listen to a single note of any Disturbed song ever written.

Both bands are pretty dire. But at least Trivium show that they're fairly talented musicians. Disturbeds music could be written by any monkey.

I think Roadrunner had a BIG influence on Trivium.... just read an interview with AdamD from Killswith Engage.... he basically said Roadrunner want to take them to the radio with their songs....... LOL.

I now know why Chimaira left the label.

Trivium on the radio? I doubt it, even if Heafy doesnt scream!

Killswitch's new album is basically the end of heartache 2. So they havn't changed because of roadrunner.

loooool
I can't say how much I disagree. I personally think Disturbed are one of the coolest bands around at the moment. Interesting style, decent rifs.
Whilst none of it is technically awesome it fits together well and sounds good. Trivium doesn't do this.

What is so bad about ending up on Radio 1?
Bands are in the business of making money and if a record company can get their artists record onto the airwaves then its money in the pocket.
Some daft arse came to me this week and said that he'd gone off Oasis because they'd sold out and are going to release a greatest hits album.
I had to tell him it was nothing to do with the band but their record labels decision.

mmm if Mr Poole likes it i might buy it :p

I wouldn't go by my judgement.
However, another 48 year old was in my house yesterday and I played him some of it and its on his list 'to buy'.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic Edinho but I'm too old to follow fashions. I don't give a monkeys toss if you have to dress a certain way to listen to one type of music and another way to listen to another. I have no pre-conceived ideas of what a modern genre should be and therefore judge the music alone. I don't give a damn if Trivium are a chocolate pink coloured raspberry falvoured metalcore industrial gothic punk band - its the music that counts and I like what they've done.

As a young man it was very hard to find similar music. We had Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Uriah Heep etc etc and none of them sounded alike. We dreamed of bands coming along that sounded similar to our favourites but it would be the late 70's when similarities happened.
AC/DC sounded like Quo, Krokus sounded like AC/DC etc. If Trivium sound like early Metallica then excellent because I miss that sound.

There is nothing bad at all about it, however:

1.) (IMO) Triviums music will not appeal to mainstream rock fans, it is not catchy or melodic enough and the guitar work is overdone and misses the point.

2.) Since they have only released one record that defined their "screamo" sound, veering away from this on their second release (to encourage more radio airplay) will alienate their fan base that has taken them so long to build, and does not guarentee more new listeners.

Personally, I think they are good musicians but not good song writers. I dont think they have the spark that identifies a great band (nothing wrong with that though), and they are better off as a fringe metal group, rather than one that changes itself to whatever the whims of current music trends are.
