I frequently get packet loss in games on my internet connection. On a good day I have 16 down and 0.8 up. I am convinced it has something to do with the ISP, and I think they need to replace a copper connection somewhere.

I need help from you guys on what troubleshooting steps I should do before I contact my ISP. I have performed a tracert during the ping spike and this is the result

tracert /4 google.co.uk

Tracing route to google.co.uk [142.250.187.195]

Trace complete.

I pinged my internal ip and it all came back after 100 tries as <1ms so all good on the internal network. I have a long ethernet cable downstairs to my router and everything is wired in with ethernet.
