I have a Tuniq tower 120 in an Antec 900 and that is just under 15mm (edit - 20mm on recheck) off the side panel...
- Dimensions:
Tuniq 120 131mm x 108mm x 153mm
TRU 120 . 63.44mm x 132mm x 160.5mm
Should fit... there is a little bit of plastic on the side panel that is there for another fan which would probably "catch" on it... so that bit of plastic might need to come off.. very close to the top of the tuniq.
Will be tight and the top left screw on the motherboard was finiky for me, as the thing cooler went on before i put the Motherboard in.
Like yourself I have previously installed a Tuniq in this case in one of my previous builds. Wasn't that impressed with the Tuniq though (apart from its good looks) and fancy giving the TRU a run out in my latest build.
I have a tuniq in a nine hundred. It is a lot easier to fit than it seems, theres a good half inch between the top of it and the side panel Mine is mounted sideways though. so its above the part where the fan on the panel goes.
Ya, i actually find the Q6600 without any overclocking is great with the tuniq, have temps of 28c Idle.
Tried to take a picture of the gap for ya but it didn't come out very well, but you should be fine.
-Agree, was fairly easy to fit, other than the screw cos i did the .. CPU and cooler on first approach. hehe... mind you... had difficult screwing in one screw.. think the thread was slightly off... had to take it all off and retry with that one first.
Depends on the motherboard a fair bit - With the Tuniq pushing toward the 120mm exhaust at the back, on a P5K the Tuniq sits just underneath the horizontal metal support beam and literally only just fits.
If the socket is further down the mobo then you're gonna have no problems. Best to get an 'ok' from someone with the same mobo and cooler.
Haven't ordered mobo yet as can't decide between x38 chipset and and the latest 780i. I'm runnung an 8800 GTX card and think I might have to get a pair of them to go with my GO stepped quad to get decent frame rates in Crysis. Subject to more reviews my board of choice is either going to be:
Asus Maximus Formula (accepted SLI not an option there) or
Asus Striker II 780i.
ah well, not sure then.. and they are not available yet i think (AS II 780i).. so not sure anyone can help you.
I am ordering the Asus P5N-T Deluxe soon, prefer it so the striker boards and like what i have seen from this board so far.. and its a fair price.
Will get another Q6600 + Tuniq 120 for that i think.. but wont be able to let you know abou the antec 900 because this one is actually going in the CM stacker 832... dont facy squeezing 2 ( maaaaaybe 3) 8800's into the Antec and ontop of the 1KWH PSU blowing heat onto them
i have both and yes they fit nice fit actually
the only thing is you wont be able to have a side fan with it
ive toyed with the idea of putting my cpu on the top of the heatsink to allow me to have the side fan in but havent played yet
but yea it fits fine
