SLI - memory across both cards. How does it work? I presume 2x3GB cards don't pool to 6GB under the current DirectX/driver architectures from what I've read, so how does the graphics subsystem use each card's memory?

3GB is a little low for 1440P though. Having said this at 1440P you don;t really need high AA. 2xAA is fine. Argh! Can you tell I'm trying to justify the expense?

what good is more memory if you are compromising raw power?

Each card uses its own memory and they share rendering tasks.

In effect the subsequent cards after the first one only add GPU processing power, not additional memory space for textures etc.

Really nice cards and really nice deal - can't help thinking though that a 970 is still a better deal than a 3GB 780 Ti. Uses less power, more ram (even if it is 3.5GB rather than 4GB) and similar performance.

Still, there is something that feels nice about a £250 780 Ti with ref cooler.... Tempted myself...great deal for those who can SLI.
