Trying to contact a manufacturer help

I have been trying to contact Akai about a portable dvd player i bought last year on Dec 23rd.They years warranty is nearly up and this dvd player has been Dead for around 2 months and everytime i phone the manufacturer i get no answer.What is my rights if i cannot contact the manufacturer and the years warranty runs out?.The dvd player was not bought from ocuk so it isnt a problem with ocuk product just i woundered if anyone has had a similar problem.

Your contract under the Sale of Goods Act is with the retailer. You should contact them.

well the problem is the retailer has went out of buissness.Soon as my portable dvd player stopped working i went to take it back to the store but it isnt there anymore.

if no luck with manufacturer, get in touch with your credit card company, if you bought this way; they should sort you out a refund.
