trying to hit 800mhz on a msi 470!

You'll get bored soon. I got to 876\1752\1674 @1075mv before I couldn't be arsed doing anymore, still dont know what it tops out at and I just run at stock anyway!:D

Depends on the cooling really, sounds like a good clocker so kept <40C it would probably go all the way to the region of 1200MHz - on the MSI cooling tho I doubt you'd get 900MHz 100% stable on 1.087v.

Why did you go back to stock?

Probably because of the increased power useage heh, tho 800MHz isn't too bad and a big boost over stock in performance.

What a waste, OC it to about 800:1600/1752, set a fan profile[if stock cooler] up with Afterburner to peak at 60%, less noise, temps about 80'c. I know the 470 is ok stock but OC it does make a difference all round gaming, a lot smoother ,etc.

Sorry guys had to pop out there. Only playing Fallout NV just now and it plays flawlessly on stock settings so i dont see any need in stressing the card. Will be playing crysis 2 soon although I understand it wont be up to the usual very high requirements. Will OC my card when it becomes necessary ta.:p:D

Oldphart, fitted a Gelid Icy Vision cooler as I didn't like the heat and noise of the stock cooler.

With that cooler fitted id run it overclocked daily at 800/1600. The stock coolers arent great tbh, and unfortunately i cant fit aftermarket coolers due to space. Hence the addition of the spot cool to increase airflow to the cards therefore allowing me to run on auto gpu fan setting
