Far more better clients on OSX, so I tend to use Tweetie, or the far newer Twitter client, which is a rewritten tweetie, if that makes any sense.

On Windows, Seesmic comes to mind as the best client. Tweetdeck is just fiddly bloat when I last used it.

Regarding the debate, twitter is what you make of it. It's your own custom feed. Celebs are just a small part of it, and weather you choose to follow kerry flamin cantona is up to you. There's some decent, down to earth celebs out there like Rio Ferdy and Suzi Perry to name two.

Best thing about it, is that I'm always in touch with it, as it has mobile clients for virtually every mobile device you may have.

I use Ubertwitter on my BB and Tweetdeck on my HTC but use Hootsuite to post to FB and twitter on the PC.

I've got business through Twitter, networked, got someone a job, talked lots of crap and get lots of useful info on things I like. (I have separate lists for diff things I enjoy so I can separate them out, not to get bogged down!)

Don't give a hoot about any haters!

Also, thanks for the link. I has been using Seemic Twhirl which used Adobe Air and was many different shades of gash. MetroTwit is much better :)
 
For current news and events twitter is great. Live football scores, cricket scores, gig announcements etc all there. There's a handful of my mates that use it just for a bit of banter but then there's facebook for all that.

Sure there's the celebs that just post rubbish, just don't follow them, but some are interesting especially if you want to know what films are on the way or music albums etc.
 
I use twitter to get up the minute updates from ROM/Android developers, to keep up with friends and to follow twoptips. It's also quite good for competitions n such!
