Installed Windows 7 onto my new raid 0 SSD's last night and formated my HD which i am now using as a media drive.

Everything has gone great but when i start my machine i get the option to select one of two windows 7's installations (or wait x seconds and the highlighted one will be used).

I just select the first one and things work fine. But really what is this all about, i'm curious? I only installed Windows (7, 64bit) the once!

Cheers.

Try this to avoid that screen.

As to why it appears? God knows. But if you search within those forums for "Dual Boot RAID 0 Problem" you should find some answers. My guess is that it has something to do with the installing the latest RAID drivers during install?

Thanks for this, i will try it. I didn't know that this was a possible side effect of RAID.

It might be something to do with the 100MB System Reserved partion that is automatically created by default during the Windows 7 install? I'm guessing here.

There was more than likely a copy of Windows on an existing connected hard drive when you installed Windows 7. The setup then effectively made a 'dual boot' menu.

^^ Probably this.

If you're curious, run editbcd from the command line and see what info it gives you. Most likely either two entries directed to the same place or one redundant one from a pre-existing install..

Cool! I think you're right. I went into msconfig and hit the "boot" tab button. There, i could see two boots, including the redundant boot on my d drive (which used to be my c drive before i installed new SSD's).

I just deleted the D drive boot from the tab options.

Thanks ejr22, for that link, it helped loads.

Cheers.
