Two weeks off the smokes and I..

revival time :p
i remembered reading this thread.

i am also off the fags now for 2 weeks, and struggling.

i started off with the patches and inhalers. i found it really easy,
but 2 days ago i just went cold turkey, as i was using the inhalers too much :D

just hope it gets easier

to OP, how are you doing?

If you start finding it too difficult, try Vaping - honestly. It might seem like "cheating", but tbh it's no more cheating than using patches or gum. I took it up by chance, and grabbed a 510 kit with a USB passthrough. Haven't looked back.

Within 3 days I was COMPLETELY off cigarettes/roll-ups. They taste horrific now.

It obviously takes a little more management than cigs, what with charging batteries and the inherent issues such as flooded atomisers, leakage etc, but it's still a vast improvement on your health and -- most importantly -- IT WORKS.

EDIT: Haha, just noticed that your OP mentions trying it. They do work...you just need a decent type. Hell, the amount of them that are out there means it almost becomes a new hobby checking out the hardware. Far, far better than just deciding between brand of tobacco death merchants.

I packed in 6 years ago

most people make it hard on themselves by repeatedly telling themselves its so hard.
I told myself it was easy so much I totally convinced myself it was and it made it easy I think.

my whole mouth erupted into ulcers after the first week and my tongue started bleeding
well worth it tho best thing I ever did.

I tried quitting about 6 months ago, failed miserably, i went cold turkey, no patches, gum etc. I found myself getting very hungry and short tempered, which is not normal for me tbh. Still smoking but ive cut my usage by half, the smoking ban at work/pubs etc has helped a bit, i think ill make a more concentrated effort to stop in the new year, one of my work mates has been off them for 6 weks now and he smoked more than me, kinda gives me something to aim for.

I've (luckily) managed to avoid the mouth-ulcer eruption. Only a couple in the past 3 months of not smoking.

Hacking up lung-gunk wasn't pleasant, though.

I also used to suffer quite regular, and horrific, throat infections. None since quitting, though! :D

1 month of cigs now without using anything at all after smoking for 14 years, in fact the smell of cigs really makes me sick now. Still need to work on the booze though but just having split up with my ex of 11 years is not helping that. Anyway gratz to the OP for giving it a go and keep it up :)

I don't touch them normally but still get cravings on nights out, I guess it's mental association of binge drinking and smoking rather than addiction.

I bought an Ecig myself 6 months ago SDmk11 after buying a cheap one to start off with` I liked them,If your going down that road get yourself a SDmk11 or something with a good battery 900ma don't waste your money like i did on smaller devices, For me It was like changing your brand of ciggs,However these are not used as an aid to give up just cleaner and taste better,Have a look on Youtube ENI Ecig "totally wicked" good luck :):)

Seriously ditch the ecig fag crap and just cold turkey it will remove the habit as well as the addiction... the habit is the worst bit lose that and you 90% free trust me ..... i did it and im Mr zer0 will power.

Want to kill.
I was kind of fine up until yesterday, but I've somehow become very emotional and uptight.

I am using an E-cig, to try and quench my cravings but can see myself getting addicted to these E-cig's.

Anyone given up the smokes, and gone through this before offer advice?
i just went cold , it was hard but the symtoms dont last for ever.. if you can last 30 days you should be able to never smoke again although it takes more like 6 months until you just forget about smoking entirely.

btw i know someones whos "quit smoking" yet they still use those stupid e-cggys 10years later... whats the point? you might aswell just keep smoking the real thing if your trading one costly habit for another

I recently quit smoking after 10 years. I went "cold turkey" and found that the first two days were hard. After that though it was a breeze. It's so nice to be able to breath again like I could before I started. Food tastes better as-well!

All that is needed is some willpower.

i gave up a 30 a day habit 3 and a half months ago, bin the novelty crap toy, cold turkey is the way to go, when you get a craving or such, eat something or play a video game, both of those helped me loads.
when you think you really want a smoke, just stop and think, this will quite possibly be the hardest thing i've ever done in your life, and keep focusing on that end goal, ( more money, better health, smoke free home, car, )

Quitting is for quitters.

 thats really helpful isn't it

Yep, I'm still off the smokes, but still vaping, and going through chewing gum (just standard stuff, not nicotine gum). Somedays i'll forget to take it to work and i'm usually fine.

Went out a couple of saturdays ago to wet the babies head, had a puff on a ciggi and almost died, it was foul!
I have also become the worlds worst re-formed smoker and hate the stench of people that smoke.

Other than that, i'm just as grumpy as I've always been, so no-one has really noticed any difference. I can taste things properly now, no adding extra amounts of salt, and I've had to cut down on the amount of chilli's I put into curry, chilli con carne, Jerk chicken etc :D
