Draw

The 48 entrants are split into four seeding pots based on their club coefficients, with each of the eventual 12 groups to contain one team from each seeding tier.

Under a new system, club coefficients are determined either by the sum of all points won in the previous five years or by the association coefficient over the same period – whichever is higher.

No team can play a club from their own association, with the exact draw procedure confirmed before the ceremony.

City have ended with a very friendly group but Utd, Spurs and Liverpool have all got pretty much as difficult groups as possible. Still fancy all 4 sides to qualify.

Thats an epic group for Liverpool, pretty much a group of death (especially if you're RS Belgrade), can't see City struggling at all with theirs.

Group C: Paris St-Germain, Napoli, Liverpool, Red Star Belgrade
Group H: Juventus, Manchester United, Valencia, Young Boys
Group B: Barcelona, Tottenham, PSV Eindhoven, Inter Milan
Group F: Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk, Lyon, Hoffenheim

As above, barring a miracle any group we got would have been much of a muchness. Other than Lokomotiv, all the pot 1 teams were fairly equal in difficulty. One of the Portugese sides would have been nicer from pot 2 but prefer Napoli to Shakhtar, Dortmund or Roma and as long as you avoided Inter, pot 4 was all the same too.

So group A and C are the interesting groups. Utd are.... You'd normally say easy group but when Mourinho teams get bad and with this team playing how they are I wouldn't directly rule out Valencia at this point. It really depends both if Valencia are having a good season or not and if Utd start playing some proper football.

Inter were much better last year but I can't see them being much threat to Spurs. Pool have the most difficult group by a mile, I'd probably put money on them going through but a bad performance against Napoli or PSG could see them going out.

Brutal draw all around apart from City.

Inter and PSV isn't even very hard. I'd be very surprised if Spurs didn't go through comfortably with Barca. UTd, it's only the Mourinho/decline thing that even rates as a potential problem. Valencia while decent enough are a completely different league to Juve/Utd/Spurs/etc. In a normal year without UTd playing how they have been it's an easy group. With Mourinho when his teams fall to pieces then there isn't a team out there that isn't a threat.
