UEFA Champions League/Europa League 10/11/12 December *** Spoilers ***

He's not absolutely at fault at all, he should have known I don't dispute that but the blame doesn't solely fall at his feet.

This is why football clubs have back room staff.

You could conversely say - if the manager doesnt bother to find out why should those who are paid far less than him bother?

Back room staff should know , Pellegrini needs to know

edit . in general there seem to be some really nasty teams in 2nd spot in their groups to bite "favourites" in the *** if they arent careful.

Something similar happened in a cricket match a few years back, I seem to remember, and the blame for that was laid pretty squarely at the head coach's door.

I agree to a point but I don't think he should be blamed solely for this, I would much rather the manager of my team concentrate on beating the opposition rather than knowing the outcome of different results, that's what the staff are for.

He's the manager of the football club, how does he not know what they need to do to finish top.

To suggest otherwise is ludicrous.

Ashley Young believes Manchester United's players will gain a lot of confidence from the 1-0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk - a result that confirmed United as group winners.

The winger says he and his team-mates have been frustrated with a recent run of disappointing results, so everyone was delighted to rediscover the winning feeling against the Ukrainians at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

"We really wanted to get back to winning ways tonight and thankfully we managed to do that," Young told MUTV. "We would have liked to have got a few goals more but it wasn't to be. The main thing is we got the three points and topped the group.

"When you're winning you play with more confidence than when you are losing. Everybody showed confidence out there. Everybody wanted to play and everybody wanted the ball."

It wasn't to be because you were on the pitch for 2/3's of the match you muppet.

You don't read very well do you.

What I'm saying is the likes of his staff should have made him aware of that fact, you can't lay it all at his door.

Yip as if Arsenal and Chelsea win their groups Citeh now need to play either Real, Barca, Atletico or PSG next round. Boned!!!!

To be the best, you have to beat the best. While Moyes is praying that we draw sparta praha or someone so that we can avoid playing a game of football, maybe it's better to play good clubs earlier. Certainly more entertaining than watching us plod to a result against the Basels or Bilbao s of europe. The players and fans should be up for it too. Think 1999.

I have played a lot of sport in my life and you know when you are playing well and when you are not. Even when you win, you know if you played well and deserved it or not and we did neither last night.

That being said, no player is going to come out and say "yeah we won but we didn't play any better than we have been the last few weeks"

Chelsea team: Schwarzer; Ivanovic, D Luiz, Terry (c), Cole; Mikel, Lampard; Willian, Oscar, Hazard; Ba

Subs: Cech, Cahill, Ramires, De Bruyne, Mata, Schurrle, Torres

Now I can't make it to Stamford Bridge tonight. :(

Arsenal team for tonight: Szechezny, Mertesacker, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Gibbs, Flamini, Arteta, Cazorla, Ozil, Rosicky and Giroud.

Bench: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Monreal, Wilshere, Walcott, Ramsey and Bendtner.

Sagna still out with injury and Poldolski isnt quite match fit yet.

Tough game tonight at Naples, as long as we dont concede first and walk away with a draw minimum or a win then we should qualify for the next round.

COYGS!!!

EDIT: Rosicky is starting and Ramsey is on the bench.

That would be my preferred backline in any game, though I haven't seen that much of Monreal. Nice to see Flamini starting again, he definitely adds a lot to the midfield defensively.

Monreal did well when he deputised for Gibbs in one of our games earlier in the season, also glad to see Flamini back our midfield general.

Don't be so ridiculous, he is the manager of the football club. Like I've said, not knowing what your team has to do to finish top is ludicrous. Its like Benitez not knowing he needs to win by three to guarantee going through.

You can absolutely lay it on his door, its his responsibility to know.

Well I don't, it's not solely his responsibility, his responsibility is to win football games, it would have taken a quiet word from any of the coaches to say "Eh Manny, if we get one more here we finish top"

If he didn't know then so what, he shouldn't be expected to know all the possible permutations whilst he's trying to win a football game.

From what I've seen of your posts you just tend to argue for the sake of it and to be perfectly honest, I can't be arsed. :)
