UEFA Champions League/Europa League 18/19/20 September *** Spoilers ***

Is Diaby fit? He wasn't playing against southhampton, cant remember if he was on the subs bench. He's obviously got a big role to play at the club this season.

The Champions League trophy will be paraded around the pitch before tomorrow night's game:

Before we begin our defence of the Champions League tomorrow (Wednesday) against Juventus, the trophy won on May 19 in Munich will be paraded around the Stamford Bridge pitch.

This will be the first occasion the Champions League trophy is shown to supporters inside the stadium and the parade will take place immediately after the players have finished their warm-up, which will be at approximately 7.30pm.

Performing the task will be six members of the armed forces: Warrant Officer (Squadron Sergeant Major) Michael Sturgeon and Sergeant Adam Grant from the 101 Engineers Regiment; Sergeant John David Legland and Sergeant Martin Philip Robinson from the RAF; and Warrant Officer Tony Matthews and Leading Seaman Antony Peacock from the Navy.

A bit of light reading before your match.....

Good find there. Quite interesting to read about Man Utds press release. Very informative. I guess the commentators have this sort of thing in front of them when they are talking about the match as there are loads of snippets of information. I always think they know everything and pick stuff out of the top of their heads. Obviously not.

Despite all of the Real Madrid doom I can't see Man City getting anything but a spanking against them, Man City have been poor so far this season.

Then again, this time last year they were scoring goals for fun in the league and poor in Europe... so perhaps this year it's the other way around. :p

Arsenal: Mannone - Jenks - Mertesacker - Vermaelen - Gibbs - Arteta - Diaby - Cazorla - Podolski - Gervinho - Giroud

Arsenal subs: Shea - Koscielny - Santos - Ramsey - Walcott - Oxlade-Chamberlain - Coquelin

Montpellier XI v Arsenal: Jourdren; Bocaly, Yanga-Mbiwa, Hilton, Bedimo; Saihi, Estrada; Mounier, Belhanda, Cabella; Camara

Szczesny injured? Why have we fielded such a strong team?

--------------Mannone--------------
Jenkinson--Koscielny--Vermaelen--Gibbs

----------------Arteta----------------
------------Diaby---Ramsey-----------

Chamberlain------Giroud------Gervinho

I was hoping for something more like this.

Arsenal will be without first-choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny for their Champions League opener against French champions Montpellier.

After missing two games, Szczesny returned for the 6-1 thrashing of Southampton at the weekend but has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

Wenger obviously wanting to make sure they progress I suppose? Doesn't want to take a chance.

Nastasic over Lescott...? Hmmmm

And what does Tony Adams look like?! :D :D

Away from home in Champions League, joint bottom in the group as it stands, Arsenal could really do with a win here to kick things off.

Get the bulk of the job done in the first 4 matches, then ease off in the last two if you have that luxury. Can you imagine the furore(sp) if Wenger were to field a weakened side and lose?
(some might argue having AOC on the bench while picking Gervinho and Diaby means it is a weakened team to some extent, but lets not go there!)
