***UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2010/11 Matchday 2***

Pray tell how could 6 players in the same position being injured be more awkward? 7 players? :p

I don't see why not, it's not as if it is our first season in Europe. A lot of our squad have a fair bit of UEFA cup experience with Spurs, it isn't like they've not had to deal with lots of midweek games before.

Whilst I'm certainly not delighted with our start in the league, we are still only 3 points off 4th.

They could be spread out so it's not 6 CB's??

Yes but in the CL you have to play your best available XI (or very close to) every game, unlike the UEFA Cup.

How would that be more awkward, any half decent squad can deal with 6 spread out injuries, name me another squad that could deal with 6 injured CBs?

In the early rounds maybe, but the later rounds are just as competitive, bear in mind if you are in the UEFA cup the opponents are on the same level as you are.

The result against Twente will show us how well Spurs can cope, we shall see, but I can't see past a win with my slightly rose tinted goggles.

It now appears that Frank Lampard won’t be back until the Villa game on the 16th.

.. and that's bad because?? They and England seem to be managing well without him.

Don't fancy our chances given our current league form although the Spurs forwards do seem to be finding the net outside the PL. Nothing other than a home will do but sadly I'm predicting a 2-2 draw.

Sorry I mis-read. I was trying to say injuries always seem to be as awkward as they could be, but that's just experience from being an Arsenal fan, there's always a crisis somewhere. But yes, 6 CB's is bad, that was my point, they're always hindering one part of the field heavily, next month you may have 4 CM's out.

Spurs will need to put a full strength XI out to beat the likes of Bremen and Twente, no two ways about it. It's the fact that you need to play your best side twice a week that gets to the squad. In the CC/FA Cup/UEFA Cup you can drop 3 or 4 top players, you can't in the CL. After a few months of that, trust me, it wears the entire squad down. I don't think Spurs have a good enough squad to be competitive in the Prem and CL.

Chamakh and Nasri to score tonight I reckon.

Nasri, Chamakh and Rosicky for me. 3-1 to Arsenal, I see Partizan scoring because let's face it, unless we sort out the sloppiness of last weekend then we won't be keeping a...

I wouldn't be surprised if Chamakh and/or their Brazilian striker score tonight. Both seemingly like scoring in Europe.

Must do better as a defensive unit. While a lot of the blame could be attributed to Almunia on Saturday, don't forget Kos was out done tactically for two goals as well, and of course Song was god knows where for a lot of the game - not where a DM should have been.

What Spurs lack to cope is a really top quality striker. The rest of the squad is fine. It's certainly superior to some of Liverpool's squads in previous CL campaigns.

I think the whole team has to take the blame, it was a shoddy performance and I was amazed at the stat Wenger brought out, he said we'd covered more of the pitch than in any of our other games thus far in the season, especially as we looked so lethargic and lazy that I didn't expect the workrate of the team to be that high, not that it's a plus because look at the end result. We were poor throughout and even though Almunia let a weak effort result in a goal I think the other two were much more down to the shabby defending.

But do Spurs have enough experience at European level? Liverpool always had that

Gomes, Crouch, Gallas, Van Der Vaart, Hutton, Pavlyuchenko, Modric, Corluka and so on have all played CL football before. Plus almost every player is an international.

The weak point is 'Arry.
