UEFA Champions League QF L1 - 7/8 April ***Spoilers***

I thought he was during training?

He got a foot injury a few weeks ago vs B'burn (I think?) which keeps coming back.

In terms of Arsenal's best players, Arshavin above Nasri and put Eduardo very close to the top, Rosicky in for Song and put the full backs on the list and I agree

I thought he was during training?

He's cuptied for the Champions League. Which might be a blessing in disguise come the end of the season, more than probably not though. At this stage, I'd just rather be in next years competion. Though saying that (jumping the gun heavily here), if we get past Villareal, and Man UTD's defence is still as shakey as it is now....:p

I can't remember the year exactly (it was a while ago) but yes there was. No one could keep up with us for the first 10 minutes and many times we scored absolute belters with our pace off the line.

Wasn't there that time where we scored the fastet goal in CL ever?

Gilberto vs. A Dutch side, PSV? Sept 25th springs to mind as I have a drunken memory of catching late highlights while out for my birthday...

It was in the Premier League that we had those kind of games. In the group stages we had a riot or two right from the go, but once the tought sides appeared before us we never really scored from the go. I do remember we'd have good possession and sometimes chances, but rarely would we score.

I remember the final in 2006 where we leapt at Barca and Henry had two chances early on, but neither of them were converted. It was that half of the season that with the players leaving, we stopped sort of playing like that.

I've got chelsea down to win 2-1 tonight

I think with Hiddink's first experience of this tie it will be a very different affair.

I can see Chelsea attacking and really putting Liverpool under pressure from the start.

Nevertheless i can see there being many chances for both teams with this change in tactics.

Also have Lampard down to score first.

We were very good from the start at one point but not in Europe, at the height of our success with Vieira, Henry, Pires and Llungberg we quite often scored once or twice in the first 10 - 20 mins but only in the Prem.
Oh aye, in the Prem we've been formidable at times, but nowhere near as much in Europe.

Gah that final still rankles. We were all over them before Lehmann got sent off. Should have accepted they'd score and kept eleven men.

Horrible first half performance, better second although Villarreal seemed to lose confidence for some reason.

Our defense was hardly solid. Toure's heading is laughable at times. And our fullbacks to delivery is embarrassing. It's gone beyond a joke now. Midfield was poor. Song an Denilson couldn't cope at first, Nasri offered nothing right through the game (has been the case for too many times this season) and Fabregas wasn't great by his own standards. Didn't get on the ball half as much as usual but he was playing in a more advanced role and was pretty isolated at times along with Adebayor, who scored an absolutely sensational game but was otherwise terrible. So was Walcott.

Great result though, and I'm sure we'll go through now. Villarreal might score at the Emirates but I can see us outscoring them.

Obviously not confirmed yet but 99% certain that this will be the Liverpool side:
-----------Reina
Arbeloa-Carra-Skrtel-Aurelio
-------Alonso-Lucas
Kuyt-----Gerrard----Riera
----------Torres

With Masch suspended Lucas starting is more or less a given; could have dropped Gerrard back and played Benayoun but you wouldn't want to break up the Torres/Gerrard partnership. Other than that, it's more or less our first choice team.

Maybe a little harsh, Nasri was visibly suffering from the virus he's just had, didn't look himself. The fullbacks aren't the best at crossing in the world, but what have they got to aim for? Adebayor vs 5+ defenders? Never going to work really. Fabregas was clearly not match fit and I'm pretty sure he would have been taken off had there not been the two early injuries. Walcott was poor, but I think that's because of a lack of games/confidence. I agree it was a sub standard performance, but there were a few reasons for that, and I think we'll see a way better performance at the Emirates, well I hope so.

Aye, we were all over them, it's so far been the case when we're underdogs e.g. Juventus, Real Madrid of that year, AC Milan from last year.

People keep saying we'd stead better at 1-0 down but with 11 men, but we didn't have a choice? If it was a red card and no goal, then the ref couldn't have opted for a yellow and a goal. It's either one or the other and as it happens he went for the former.

In terms of the final as the old saying goes, if you don't take your chances then you're ****ed. We had 4 counter attacks which ended up in crap shots towards goal in the second half. Had we been more clinical we could have got a big score, because while they attacked a hell of a lot, they never really looked like getting through until 76 minutes.

What made it worse was their goal was offside as well, when that went in our players heads dropped and it was only a matter of time before they got the winner.

I think you'll see totally the opposite. Liverpool flew out of the blocks against Real Madrid and they just could not cope with the tempo. I expect Liverpool will do exactly the same against Chelsea. Don't be fooled by what Hiddink has been saying regarding Chelsea coming to attack. They'll be looking to keep it tight and nick a goal - like any other team playing away from home in the Champions League knockout stages.

Liverpool team as i said earlier. Chelsea:
-----------Cech
Ivanovic-Terry-Alex-Cole
----------Ballack
------Essien-Lampard
--Kalou-----------Malouda
----------Drogba

I meant more that Lehmann shouldn't have gone for the risky challenge and stood his ground. They'd have probably scored, but we'd have been better off afterwards.

But then again, it's Mad Jens, and when was he ever going to be calm and composed?

In fairness, we did score from a blatant Eboue-dived free kick. ;)

1913: So Liverpool make one change, bringing in Brazilian midfielder Lucas (who has his critics) for the suspended Javier Mascherano. Chelsea make two changes, with Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba returning to the side in place of Jon Mikel Obi and Nicolas Anelka.

Just reading that makes me feel that we are much more powerfull with the selection we have in our squad. We will see though!!
