UEFA Euro 2012 - The Final - ** spoilers **

Iniesta has been named player of the tournament.

He was good as always but I'm not sure if he impressed me the most.

Well deserved imo, he was by far the most consistent of all players although if Italy had won then it would have been Pirlo as player of the tournament i imagine.

Was looking at some stats today and Spain literally dominated all the stats ie passing, possession, tackles etc etc. They made over 1000 more passes than the next team:eek:.

Sure people say their football maybe boring ie with all the possession they have but thats whats made them so successful, other teams have to work their arses off to get the ball back from them and by then they are too tired to do anything lol.

Personally i thought the final was pretty good and a so called 'boring' team managed to nail 4 goals in regulation time and yet still didnt let Italy score a goal. Yep thats the makings of a boring team isnt it??:p

160 odd passes extra per game over every match - not too bad lol (although every stat in the world is meaningless on its own)

They did well holding onto a 1 goal advantage in a number of games though - which given how football works, isnt that dominant whatever the stats for the game in question state.

Didnt one of the commentators say they were on the verge of going out fo the tournement at least twice becacuse of the lack of goals they had scored prior to the final (something like that Im sure) - due to their lack of creativity in the final 1/3

Despite their amazing possession, and the quality of the players (and creative players as well) , they didnt create that many golden chances before the final

The final was amazing - no question about it. Doesnt mean the other matches prior to last night were entertaining in any way.

Best team won it. Possibly the best international side ever, and they dont even have the best 2 players in the world playeing for them either.

The difference that Xavi and Iniesta as well as the whole teams work ethic is what makes them so good.

Despite the absolutely terrible commentary from Lawro.

I was trying to put his commentary out of my mind but you're right, he was horribly bad at making daft snide remarks and adding nothing of value to the commentary or atmosphere. I almost considered putting on ITV just to avoid him but decided that would be a step too far...

Yeah, it's a coaches dream in any team sport. A bunch of fantastic players who blend perfectly as a team. Doesn't really happen too often.

Well 42 shots on target throughout the whole tournament, Italy 2nd with 34 so they had plenty of shots on target, they just didnt bag as many as i thought they would have...only against Ireland and Italy they nailed 4 goals each.

Just watching SSN and their stats breakdown ie Spain more or less dominated just about every stat.

Tbh Spain were missing Villa a lot, if they had him in the squad then they would have probably scored more goals in the earlier rounds. Mind you still a bit mystified as to why Del Bosque didnt start Torres in the final and against Portugal. Funny how as a sub he managed to score the most goals and get the golden boot. **** what was even more funnier was Mata coming on and scoring the 4th goal...he came on in injury time:p...lovely introduction to the Euros for him:p
