UFC 124: St-Pierre Vs Koscheck 2

I recorded this last night and was greeted with out of sync commentary and fights, did anyone else experience any view difficulties?

Was intending to watch this last night, but after a day on the beer my body decided sleep was needed. Got up and watched it this morning, Dana has got to be a happy man. Given the fantastic event Strikeforce put on last week he needed this to deliver and it certainly did.

On a side note, no issues here Tank.

Gsp totally outclassed and dominated koscheck, in the words of David Haye "It was as one sided as a gang rape".

Looking at some news appears Jake Shields is next in line for GsP... Really? He has had one fight didn't look all that convincing and is straight in there with a title fight? hmmmm

Thiago looked an absolute beast great technique amazingly strong, Howard can take a beating though. He got hit with some big punches and a nice knee and kept going still he was outclassed as well, technique over big home run punches.

I recorded it last night on Sky and was fine for me.

UFC 126 looks a cracker as well!

185 lbs.: Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort

Main Card (Televised):

205 lbs.: Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
205 lbs.: Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones
135 lbs.: Antonio Banuelos vs. Miguel Torres
155 lbs.: Paul Kelly vs. Sam Stout

Not seen Griffin fight in ages!

Miguel Torres is pretty awesome for those of you who haven't seen WEC, think he was on a 17-0 win streak but has lost his last 2.

Which Silva will turn up for this?

Jake Shields can out grapple GSP, he handled a lot of fighters including Dan Henderson at 185lbs which is no easy job. Of course to stand any chance against GSP he will need to take him to the mat, which I can't see happening.

Which Silva will turn up for this?

He won't have a choice but to strike from bell to bell as Belfort is known for pushing the pace on the feet and going for the KO at all times.

Pretty crazy but as GSP is very good at adapting, there was a lot of talk about koshs excellent striking but gsp just out did him in that area also...

Rounds off 2010, but you know what 2011 MMA sounds even better ;) think thx to the merger we got 31 shows next year

And yeah UFC 126 looks like an amazing card indeed.

Great event that. I thought it was a shame Koscheck's eye swelled shut as I'd like to have seen him push GSP. Then make a mistake and get knocked out/submitted. :D

What was up with McCorkle's gut? It looks like he's just had a baby, or lost a hell of a lot of weight!!

Also been wondering.. GSP v Koscheck was FOTN.. does that mean both fighters get $100,000 or just the winner?

Both fighters get the FOTN money but I thought it was 50k each, may have gone up since I last noticed however !

McCorkle was fighting as a super heavyweight before his first UFC fight back in september. He says he lost a little over 60 pounds in 2/3 months iirc

Ah, does it vary each event then ?

I seem to remember 60k recently as well

Anyway, my comments on the event

Alves/Howard: Knew this would be an absolute war and a hell of a test for Howards chin, which again proves to be super solid. Alves looked immense.

Miller/Oliveira: Was really worried when Oliveira jumped from sub attempt to another, and then the beastly kneebar cranked real nasty. Loved that.

Danzig/Stevenson: Totally unexpected a KO finish in this fight, especially a flash one coming from Danzig, looked very much like the Daley/Smith finish last week.

Struve/McCorkle: Can tell McCorkle isn't used to not having the size advantage over his opponents, had me on the edge of my seat with the kimura attempts though !

GSP/Kos: Totally outclassed in this fight, surprised that I saw a takedown in the first 20 seconds from GSP and for him to not want to stay there. Hell of an effort from Kos to stay in with the swelling he had

Bocek's triangle from mount was sick, loved that finish.

All this talk of Shields vs GSP, thats possibly the easiest matchup he'll have in the past few fights as he poses no threats at all as he has such a huge hole in his striking, it will play out exactly the same as this fight just did but i think GSP might actually be able to even get the finish in the 4th or 5th.

Looks like Jake shields is next for GSP.... theres some talk if GSP does win (which doesnt look like a problem) he may go up to 185 for Silva ala mega-fight :)

2011 is gonna be an exciting year for MMA
