UFC 124: St-Pierre Vs Koscheck 2

GsP said he was unsure of that fight so far, got to think that not many people are going to challenge him in this weight class are they.
If it did happen I think Silva would probably win it quite comfortably the reach, natural size difference and equal if not better stand up at least. Silva's boxing is pretty awesome and he ain't to shabby on the floor either.

Shields did not look great in his first UFC fight and GsP is so well rounded.

I was surprised to see it stay standing but GsP soon realized he had the better of Koscheck on the feet so stuck with that.

Koscheck did a good job at stuffing some take down thoughs, think around 3-4 he stopped!

Yeah makes more sense at 180 pounds for a GSP vs Silva match up less stress on both fighters and that way doesnt mean we see another jake shields issue or as so many fighters have cut weight and then collapsed.

I think Jake Shields needs another 2-3 fights to get comfortable and proove he can fight GSP, but its not gonna happen and hes going up against him in 2011 now.

Would be pure awesome too see GSP take on the 185 pounders but it also means a lot more pressure for him cos everyones gonna wanna fight him :)

Thiago Alves called out Jake Shields in one of his post fight interviews. That is a fight i would like to see.

Really?

I just see Shields laying on him the entire fight like he did to Henderson. Yeah Alves is a big strong WW, but Henderson was at MW and is an former olympic wrestler and Shields put him on his back and kept him there for the entire fight.

The more interesting people for Shields to fight are other wrestlers with decent striking, might force him to actually learn a little bit of striking.

Personally I want to see Alves knock the **** out of Dan Hardy.

Hendo's wrestling in the Shields fight looked horrible, as memory serves it looked like Hendo was a 60 year old man with a slipped disk trying to stuff the takedowns.

Alves would more than likely put Shields down and finish him imo, he has a much bigger arsenal that just a massive right straight (H Bomb :D). He mixes everything up very well and with those leg kicks could take enough out of sheilds to definitely stop his takedown threats.

100% agreed with you on shields, really annoyed me in his fight with mayhem.

And defo get Hardy/Alves booked, would be great !

I really enjoyed the fight but i think GSP lacks the 'killer instinct' that you see in some fighters, and i think GSP at a catch weight against Silva would be a bad move on his part, I think the height and weight difference would have a massive effect on his style of fighting, especially against someone as good as silva!

GSP looked absolutely quality, that jab was brilliant.

As far as finishing goes he was trying to with throwing his left hook but as he said in the press conference you could see Kos kept his hand very high on that side and also doesnt matter how beat up Koscheck was hes still dangerous and its always risky for someone like GSP to really look for the finish because all is it takes is one punch and he losses his title

I think this is why a lot dont like gsp also, hes not a finisher or knock out artist like many others.... he himself has even said he was disapointed in the kosh fight he had all the tools and abilities and still couldnt finish it, points and all make a boring win and it seems thats all hes been doing lately, but hey a wins a win.

This is the reason why people have wanted the GSP vs Silva fight, it can only go one way with 2 of the top P4P fighters out there.

Imo GSP needs to take out shields and move up a class otherwise theres nothing to do at 170 pounds....

maybe bit too harsh with boring win lol, but gsp himself has said hes disapointed in not getting a knock out or finishing submissions past 2 fights....

It was far from a boring fight but it was a one sided match up and GSP could have done more then throwing the jab for 5 rounds, I agree with GSP he could have done more but theres always a next time.

That swings both ways Cockcheck could have put up a better fight. ;)

Yes very true he could have put up a better fight also and omg that @ that pic, doesnt look like hes gonna be fighting anytime soon, think tito had a similar issue once.

Theres rumours of Brock and Frank Mir being the next coaches on the TUF series due filming in fall Jan 2011 ;)
