UFC 127

Well woke up just to see the end of the Bisping fight. Lots of comments on facebook about him using an illegal knee. Americans say Rivera wasnt the same after that, English say he was fine, need to see it myself. Chuffed he won, Rivera was talking a whole load of rubbish in the build up to this just to build his profile up and I so wanted him to get knocked out. All-round Bisping is a way better fighter than him.

Little dissapointed with the Penn/Fitch fight. Surprised Penn went to wrestle in round 1 and I gave that round to him. Next two rounds I gave to Fitch - think he deserved the win, he absolutely dominated the third.

Nice one Bisping, but I'm not convinced about the knee :/

Don't think Rivera was the same after the knee as he pretty much did nothing and Bisping battered him. It definatley changed the fight.

Disappointed with Penn and Sotiropolous aswell.

And is Ebersole for real? I thought he was taking the **** but it turns out he's quite effective.

Also did anyone see Chris Tuchscherer's cut? :p

Tuchscherer: "There's something hanging in front of my eye!"
Ref: "That's your eyelid!"

I wouldnt say Bispings knee changed the fight. When it happened and Rivera took a while to get up it definately looked that way but once the fight resumed he looked fine and went at Bisping a bit, then he had in between rounds to recover and looked fine for the second round.

It clearly changed things, it was a clean knee to the head that nearly knocked him unconcious, there was no way in hell Rivera was 100% after that happened.

I don't think he would have come out on top even if he was 100% frankly but I don't think there is any way you can argue that knee didn't have a significant effect on the fight, just as it would have had a significant effect (ie. likely a win a few seconds later) had he struck one similar but legal.

I don't think the knee changed the fight, in fact I believe there was an over reaction to it from Rivera. As soon as he took it, he was at the ref waiting for him to cut in. If somone is almost knocked out, their eyes go and their limbs generally lose stregth, but Rivera didn't look like that at all. After 2:10 minutes, the fight restarted and he looked fine, throwing kicks and punches and looking sharp. I'm not saying it didn't hurt, but compared to the knee that Chris Lytle took to the chin, the only bad thing was that it was an illegal strike. There is a difference between a knee to the top of the forehead, and a knee to the jaw.

As for the other fights, Penn/Fitch was dull. Shame Sotiropolous lost but I think he was engaging in too much stand up to really take it to the mat, and Tuchscherer's eye was a bit nasty. Good finish to that fight too!

I don't think the Bisping knee changed the fight, it just speeded it along to its natural conclusion. Bisping was always a class above Jorge, who had a punchers chance and a punchers chance only. I dont blame him for the way he acted either, a lot of the stuff that was said was a long way over the line.

Penn did exceptionally well against Fitch, I was picking Fitch to basically 'GSP' him - push him up against the fence in the first round, tire his arms out, take him down and then beat the hell out of him for the rest of the fight. It was good for me to see Penn make active use of his grappling, instead of just rely on his boxing. Ok, he got battered in the 3rd round, but there were a few times in the first and second I thought he might actually take it.

Gutted for G-Sot, but thats what happens when a JJ guy cant complete a takedown against a superior stand up fighter, he will come back stronger, but his road to the title has definately hit a major bump and its back to the drawing board for him.

Mark Hunt walk off KO... reminds me of PRIDE. Hunt didnt look anything like his best, but he can still bang, and he did well to defend the Kimura attempt in the first.

Glad Lytle lost, for whatever reason I've just not taken to him, I must admit to not having a clue who Ebersole was before this fight, but he obviously has a ton of experience and was extremely effective.

Props to my man Ebersole or Breezey as I refer to him haha.

My claim to fame, when he came to our gym for a seminar we sparred and he dropped me with a body shot haha.

He also attempted to cartwheel kick me :)

Did Bisping spit at the guy from Jorge Riveras corner who was doing impersonations of him after the fight ? looked like he did.

Seemed like BJ Penn was considering quitting if he lost against Fitch guy seemed so down beat was unreal "Yes" "No" "Guess so".

Very strange.

I thought he was going to retire there and then.

BJ was a natural talent who succeeded without really trying hard, now the game has changed and he is being left behind.

If he wants to compete with the top dogs he needs to go to a proper gym and train and learn from the best. He has been training doing his own thing in Hawaii for too long an it just isn't working anymore.

I enjoyed Bispings post-fight antics, although the spitting is unnecessary, its nice (oddly) to see someone for at least a few minutes still carry on with it like it actually meant something.

If someone said something about my family, then tried to pass it off as hype after i smashed him, i wouldnt go up to him and hug him - good on you Bisser. "Go home loser" was a bit bad taste, but we are mancs so :)
