Not a mention about this tonight!

OFFICIAL WEIGHTS – UFC 80

MAIN EVENT – VACANT UFC LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
BJ Penn (154) vs Joe Stevenson (154)

Fabricio Werdum (247) vs Gabriel Gonzaga (255)
Jess Liaudin (170) vs Marcus Davis (169)
Wilson Gouveia (205) vs Jason Lambert (204)
Jorge Rivera (185) vs Kendall Grove (186)

Antoni Hardonk (244) vs Colin Robinson (238)
Paul Kelly (170) vs Paul Taylor (170)
James Lee (206) vs Alessio Sakara (206)
Per Eklund (155) vs Sam Stout (155)

Penn v Stevenson - should be a belter - both go 110% and although Penn is amazing i have a sneaky feeling for Stevenson.

Also i think gonzaga will have too much for werdum. Kendal Grove v Rivera will be another interesting fight.

Anyone going to Newcastle?

I agree its the worst card for a while ,but been some good matches lately ,penn/stevenson is a hard one stev is a good wrestler ,and penn is always a hard fight

I'm sky+ing it so i can skip all the adverts, really looking forward to seeing BJ Penn again, not overly bothered about the rest but hopefuly there will be some action.

Great to see BJ Penn back. I think he'll take it, but i'm expecting an awesome fight.

Gonzaga vs Werdum is interesting too. Gonzaga will dominate stand up, but both are pretty well matched on the ground, with Werdum having a slight advantage. I'm thinking Gonzaga though. Have no interest at all in the other fights though. Pretty poor.

It's just starting now and if Penn is really fit and focussed for this fight, he'll walk it, because I think the only person who could beat a 100% Penn is GSP.

As for the rest of the mediocre card, wins for Werdum, Davis, Lambert and Grove.

Good fight by Kelly and Taylor and what a start, it'll take something special from the last two to top that.

Gonzaga threw some awesome leg kicks in the first, but Werdum retaliated with some equally effective knees in the second and finished him off. I wasn't totally convinced by Gonzaga and my opinion certainly hasn't changed after tonight.

Inevitable really.

BJ wasn't really tested at all, although Joe did quite well defending his back in the first, once it went to the ground in the second, his blood obviously hindered him.

Wasn't a bad little card IMO
More entertaining than the boxing that was on at the same time. How did I ever manage before Sky+ :p

Penn v Sherk should be interesting. Sherk too strong or Penn too technical?

The two brits really went for it didnt they? I thought the refs let a couple of fights go longer than they should have though. Was better than i expected from what i can remember!!

Event was better than expected in the end. Some solid fights.

BJ is definately back on form, and i'd pick him over Sherk. Although the decision shark might still be able to lay on top of BJ long enough to get the decision victory (as usual).

Great to see Werdum win. Lot of people going on about how Pride guys are over-rated, and now we see a UFC guy, frequently said to be in the Top 5 HWs put in a really quite poor performance (apart from the awesome leg kicks). The moral of the story is that it doesn't matter where you come from, bad form is bad form.

best and most exciting card for a while indeed. Some nice KO's - Kendal Grove was KO'd big style and the amount of blood in the penn fight was mental!
