So I've been in Uganda for six weeks. The first three were for an engineering module and then I travelled around and then went back to do a bit more of the module.
I found it quite difficult out there, the sun was often very strong and a good sky was rare on the equator because of the haze. The biggest difference was people's attitudes toward photography; they either wanted their photo taken (in which case you'd exchange contacts and fear getting visa requests etc) or they would tell you to stop. And never take photos of police/security!

Anyway, here are a few of my favourite photos;

Lovely shots mate. 4 and 8 are my personal faves.

4 because I really love the crisp colours and the way the lines of the sea, sky and sand divide the photo up

8 because that lighting is just lovely.

The last three are stunning. Congrats. I know it's a horrible cliché but have you tried the last one of the woman in b&w? I really love #7

EDIT: Is it me or have they been a bit over-compressed? 100k for images of that size is a bit on the small size, isnt it? I can kinda see jpeg artifacts but it might be the light in some of them, or lack of sharpening or something?

Thanks for the feedback guys, really glad you like them!

I was a bit lazy and just got flickr uploadr to resize these to 800 wide from 1024, but I can't really see those artefacts. See my deviantArt for nice res versions :)

And for the B+W version; I don't think it works quite so well, feel free to play yourself though.

superb set mate, some really give a good feel of the experience there (3). number 7 is my fav by far but i think the vignetting is a teeny bit too much

Yeah I maxed out the vignette because I like the way it moves your eye to the centre and seals the scene, as with #1. But yeah, it's not to everyone's tastes!

Stunning pictures Rob. I would say 6 is the weakest of the lot, it's quite a confusing photo and I'm not sure where to look.

1&7 are my favorites. 7 especially, that photo is brilliant.

Can I ask what program you used to process these photos? The processing on them really is excellent.

Thanks for the comments again guys! :)

Really? #6 is one of my favourites! Although I think it does need a little straightening.
I just used Adobe Lightroom for processing, and Photomatix for #8. Lightroom really is fantastic.

After seeing 1, I was a bit disappointed with 2 and 3 (no real focal point in this one, my eyes just seem to wander to nothing and back looking for what I should be looking at!), but after that they look top-notch to me. 7 reminds me of some of the Magnum photographers from the 50s and 60s so that's a great compliment, 8 looks stunning and the last one is a good portrait.

I agree the eyes do run around a fair bit with 2 and 3 now you've said it. Thanks for the compliment on 7, whenever I do B+W I always go for maximum contrast for impact.
