Well a couple of days ago our Bosch combination Microwave/Oven stopped microwaving - It said it was doing it but nothing came out hot.

We were just going to buy a microwave and continue to use the thing as an oven/grill but alas, today its given up the goat.

I was grilling a gammon steak and turned the oven off, as soon as I switched it to off all the electrics in the room started pulsing like in a horror movie. So I switched it on and off to confirm that the cause was the oven. I then turned it off at the power and back on.

The oven came back to life, but now won't turn off, its heating to 50 degrees when off and the light and fan stay on.

Do any gurus know if this is a repairable fault (its out of warranty so it'll be costly whatever) or failing that any decent cheapie replacements. My mum can't really afford it and the clutch on her car just went as well so we are having no luck.

just eat fresh food

Indeed, it is always better to consume raw meat without cooking it.

Worryingly from what I can tell its the microwave that wont turn off, even with the door open.

It all depends on a couple of factors, namely how old the appliance is, and whether you know a tame engineer or not.

If the answer to these 2 questions are years and no, then you're going to have to fork out for a new appliance. If they're new and yes then take it along and get a quote.

We reckon its from 1998-1999, it was in the house when we moved in.

We know a guy that does all this stuff, but he has completely dropped off the radar recently and we don't seem to be able to get hold of him.

It seems to be the microwave part thats gone, as it is this bit that is staying on.
