UK Airport Parking

I usually just park at one of the official car parts on site, heard too many horror stories about off site parking.

Just see what the cheapest price is through the official site then use comparison sites/discount codes.

The last 5 times I've flown from Manchester this year I've just the Just Park app and parked on someone's drive. Saved a ton of cash compared to the official places (£20 compared to £40/50). Just a 25 min walk to the terminal. But, I've only got a carry on bag over my shoulder, and not got a family with tons of luggage, and I don't mind a walk, and my car is worth £2k.

Just my input. But yeah, I can only comment on Manchester, and I have specific circumstances :)

Used Meet and Greet many times over the years and have only ever had one issue - Maple Manor parking, would never use them again:

  • Advertised as stored only a few miles away, returned with excessive mileage and the vehicle radio had been retuned to 'FreeBHM' - why did they feel the need to change radio settings if my vehicle is only stored a short distance away?

  • Vehicle cleanliness - vehicle was professionally cleaned prior to handover, vehicle returned in such a condition that it appeared to have been entered into a Dirt Rally.
And weren't interested when we complained.

Still use meet and greet, just won't go for Maple Manor or the cheapest option :)

I would NEVER EVER use meet and greet, I would not give someone else my car keys and I drive a 14 year old Volvo! Your 1st point is a perfect example.

A company is only as good as the people working there and the people working there change. It might be okay today, there is no guarantee they are going to be decent next time.

I always use Looking4Parking, they have some decent rates especially when i fly from Manchester. My last couple of trips came to around £90-100 for 2 weeks stay at the Terminal 2 multi storey carpark (east or west) which is literally a few minutes walk at most straight to the terminal. There's regular discount codes as well to save you abit more money, just do your research... you can save quite abit if you just know where to look.

The airport run ones are fine.

At what cost though..
last time at manchester I paid about £90 for just over 2 weeks, self park at 'jetparks' offsite and 'free' regular shuttle bus, so it might take 10 mins to find a space, and you might be stood around for about 15 mins waiting for the shuttle... but it's stress free and drops off on the doorstep of all terminals..so no walking with luggage to speak of.

I find that stressful :) Would rather park in the multi story at Manchester or use the valet parking even if it costs more.

Yup - if you are flying from Manchester T2 the multistorey west is 5 mins walk and under 100 quid for a week (nothing when you're spending 5k on a holiday - I suppose it might sting a bit more if it's just you and not a family though).

We've often used cheap ones, but then we've had cars that no-one would want to drive for any longer than they had to.

The meet and greet drivers did seem sketchy as hell.

Sites like Skypark Secure, Purple Parking, Looking4 and Holiday Extras for example may have different pricing for the same car parks. They offer both external and airport own carparks but usually going to the airports own carparks is the best option. Always check the airports site directly first though. Some sales channels may offer a discount over others but generally they seem the same when I check. Personally I prefer to avoid a shuttle bus but then we're late for everything so the fewer variables to go wrong the better!

For transparency, I work in the industry as a web developer and two of the sites above are owned by who I work for. I used them as an example rather than reccomendation. As always, shop around and look out for discount codes.
