Just read this on their site

We do not offer a newsgroup service on our broadband services. We also block ports 25, 80, 8080 and 3128 on all of our broadband services in order to maintain quality of service for all of our customers, so you will not be able to run a mail or web server.

Does that mean they block access to news groups, or just dont have a newsgroup server?

Anyone using newsgroups and ukonline?

Thanks
Aaron

what that means is they dont offer their own newsgroup e.g ukonline.newsgroup.net

but you can subscribe to other ones, port 119 is the norm and most now offer a whole hosts of ports to use

U just got the 22MB UKonline ADSL2+, works well. Theres a list of blocked ports on their website. DC++, soulseek, bittorent all work fine.
