Apparently Moskva was sending out distress and sinking messages in morse and cipher for a few hours after the fire and explosion on board, before suddenly going quiet, so it sounds like she could well be settling down in Davy Jones’ locker. Plus there was a storm raging in the Black Sea at the time, so the Captain absolutely would not give the abandon ship order under those conditions unless the ship itself was either actually sinking or at risk a catastrophic secondary explosion.

I suppose the upside from all this is that we don’t need to send Ukraine any anti ship missiles anymore, their own Neptune missiles seem to do the job just fine.

You have to wonder what kind state thier nuclear weapons are actually in.
Not sure he'd risk anything nuclear because to me it would seem a lot of them would fail!

Didn't a ship of this class fire one of its surface to surface missiles in a harbor entrance in a show and it almost hit its own ship!

Might make supply runs etc to mariupol easier now they major danger has been removed

Yes! I saw the video the other day, not sure if it was this ship or another but the misssle went up and come back down again into the water just next to the ship narrowly missing blowing itself up

I mean they got overwhelmed by one drone and two anti ship missiles and those ships are bristling with ciws etc

Yeah, but...

I read a document a while back about the Moskva, and other ships in the Russian surface fleet that employ the AK630 CIWS. That particular PDS is ethanol cooled and the Russian sailors have a tendency to siphon off the ethanol (for reasons) and replace it with sea water.

With the Neptune Ukraine has the ability to target the entirety of the Azov sea and also all of the area between Odessa and Sevastopol.

Not sure about it's ability to target stationary structures, but they can now threaten Kerch bridge though I'm not sure a 150 kg explosive is really enough to do anything other than blow a hole through the road. The rail bridge is the more juicy target of course which I'm sure has a few conveniently explosive trains going over it semi-regularly such that it could feasibly be totally destroyed if targeted at the right time.

I doubt that will be the last time Japan changes it's constitution regarding military matters.

Think we'll be seeing the full re-emergence of the Japanese armed forces soon enough.

My worry now is this threat to Kyiv, the Russians claimed they'd previously held off attacking the very centre, I guess they previously wanted to capture or kill Zelensky or a few others but leave the buildings intact and/or possibly make use of some insiders.

Now they're threatening to attack it, presumably with ballistic missiles, in response to apparent attacks within Russia, this sort of thing with the ship might also push them towards doing that I guess?

If they had the ability, I think they would have done this before they retreated from Kyiv in the first place.

Surely. Clicking through the convos around that tweet I read that the USA has been encouraging them to re-activate for a while. I also read they are currently making changes to remove "self defence force" from the official name of their military.

edit: typos!
