This forum will go very quiet when Great Britain has a recruitment drive or resumes National Service, and the experts scurry off to take up arms and put their military (and computer simulation) knowledge to practical use. Won't it.... ? ;)

As an aside, as one of those sad but dedicated amateur radio buffs, I am annoyed by the number of fellow hams who berate Russian amateurs on the air if they dare make a call on the short waves. But one the other day made me chuckle when some German was constantly butting in to say stop the war, stop the killing, leave the Ukraine. He said in perfect, but heavily accented English, "Look pal, I am sat in a freezing cold shed with some crap home made beer, putting a call out to fellow amateur radio enthusiasts, not sat next to Putin in the Kremlin, advising him of military ******* strategy! I am just a regular guy as worried as anyone else about what's happening next" :)

I don't post much in here as I know sod all about military matters, and in Motors, where I could, with due modesty, post as an expert, it's too much like the day job. So i just wind up a few folks whose opinions wind me up, and occupationally try and help if I feel the subject is serious and I feel able to do so, like most average posters.

you've missed my point (or i may not have articulated it very well, apologies if that is the case) - i've no issue with discussion and debate etc. i'm always more than happy to listen to opposing views (when they aren't a load of obviously made up guff :p)

my 'moan' is with the small number of individuals who regularly appear and set themselves up as some sort of authority on a particular subject (or rather on any subject)

don't mistake me recognizing a small number of posters for what they are with not wanting debate or discussion.

You could always challenge them if you think they're wrong and your knowledge is greater than theirs.

I think you're reading too much into that part, I suspect Russia is referring to the fact the main government buildings, presidential palace etc.. haven't been blown up.

No they're not, they clearly have left that part of the capital untouched and they're threatening to change that.

Correct it is clear that Russia has not as of yet launched absolute or sustained rocket attacks on central kyiv or the government administrative buildings there.

I thought it was just a fire and bad sea that sunk it though?

Not harsh at all, you're whining about people who have the ability to discuss multiple topics intelligently on a discussion forum, the only one proclaiming them as experts is yourself

Nope. That’s not what I’m doing. But you carry on ahead believing that if it helps you get through the day.

Now that is genuinely entertaining. Not for any reasons that you would be happy with I'd like to make clear as I doubt you get it.

Russia should stop denying it and just spin it into a good thing!

Russia use the same style of Soviet anti ship missiles Ukraine claim to have sunk it with (they just both call them by a different name) so they should just start boasting about how great this is!

I.E: "Our flagship was the best in the world! And it was wrecked by the missiles we use! So our missiles are the best in the world! Rasha #1!"

Perhaps trying to drive the public mood?
could be, they just always seem so sodding miserable, even when laughing.....i can't remember their names now but i recall watching a couple of russian twitch streamers playing Tarkov ages ago and even when they were obviously smiling and joking, there was still an air of utter miserableness from them :p

The tractor is a neat detail :D

Given the neptune is something like a 300km range weapon, that's pretty much 80% of the Black Sea targetable and by return, reduces the russian ship launched weapons available to long range only such as the russian P500 with 550km range. Large and expensive.. most of them were on the ship that sunk..
when I saw that I had to post it, I think that farmer is the most famous farmer in the world, and those pictures would possibly be in history books.

I really think Putin is a bluffer and would never nuke. I would have thought sinking the flagship of the Black Sea fleet would have brought the wrath of Putin.

This war is going to go on for years by the looks of things.

Huge blow for Putin as China silently turns on Russia - major car brand pulled from sale
Antony Ashkenaz - 2h ago

Lifan, a major Chinese car brand, has ended its sales in Russia, as relationships between Beijing and Moscow appear to fray.
Lifan is the second-largest Chinese automobile manufacturer in Russia and was the largest Chinese automobile seller in Russia between 2014 and 2018.

One thing is for sure, he won't be able to get another missile cruiser into the Black sea now. It would have to go through Istanbul................and that is not going to happen.
It would be lol if we ever reached the point where the west were giving Ukraine old ships and Turkey were just letting them in xD
